could i have MS

i have had body aches for almost 4 years total now. many doctors and many test no one has told me what is really going on. they started with fybermyalga and arthrits. the pain is only getting worse and now i have these head aches that mess up my vision. they just started to get really bad last week. i am 26 years old and unable to sit and play with my kids, run, even walking is hard. i fall over most of time. it is like some one is pushing me but only my husband or one of my kids are there to catch me. my legs have times they just flat out dont work. i went to get out of bed the other day and fell. i tried again and fell. this went on for about 5 min. and by time i did get up my thigh was black and blue from hitting this on the way down. i am afraid of what may be going on really hurting me one day. i am a stay at home mom and what would i do if i fell down the stairs. what if i hit my head hard when my legs dont want to go? i just want to know what is going on and if other people go through this? i had a spinal tap easter when i  was at the hospital. they will not tell me the results. they said my doctors needs to call and get them. WHICH ONE??? some one please tell me i am not alone and not going crazy.

Hi and welcome. You need to find out who ordered the LP, because that should be your source of info about the results. I hope you get this straightened out soon and start treatment for whatever it is that is causing your symptoms.

Meanwhile, though, what are you doing to minimize falling and hurting yourself? Are you testing your legs by holding onto something till you're sure you're steady? Are you giving yourself extra time to get up in the morning so you can get circulation going and stretch out your feet and legs? Do you have a stair railing? This is not a difficult renovation to make, but it could be important for you. There's no point in trying things over and over, just to get bruised or otherwise injured.

If your bedroom is upstairs, have your husband bring down everything you'll need for the day so there's no need to try to get up and down by yourself. You could also consider buying or renting a walker to help keep you steady while you are in this period of not knowing.

Also, of course, you need to gather all your medical test reports and notes, and see yet another doctor, if you still get no results. Not fun, but you must keep trying.

Hi Niffer,

Welcome to the MS forum.  What type of Dr. ordered the LP?

Some facilities will give you the results, some won't.  I'm not surprised they will not give LP results.  It take a few weeks for all results to come in where CSF is concerned.

When are you scheduled to go back to the Dr? Do you know why the Dr ordered a spinal tap?  To the best of my knowledge it's not a general rule to test CSF for Fibro or for arthritis.  So, if you've not been told by the Dr. what he or she is looking into, please ask.  It's your right as a patient.

I'm sorry you are not feeling well and falling.  If I were falling just getting out of bed, I'd be sure to get to the Dr. immediately.  It's unsafe.

Be careful, and thanks for joining,
shell
