back from new neuro

hi folks
saw the new neuro today told him all my problems that took me there today by my gp request.
he listened to all i said told him that i had an mri scan two years ago that showed two liesions .and that the previous neruro found definitive left sided weakness.
but said not conclusive for a dx.
he then gave me a thorough neuro exam and he found many neurological problems he said.
increased muscle tone left leg and left sided weakness, hyper reflexes, hoffmans test thumb moved possitive,
clonus, eyes faild the finger following, faild closing eyes feet together, and walking straight line as on tight rope,
and the pin test could not feel sharp untill came up past waist.
he then said as anyone mentioned ms??? i said yes my gp!!
he then said need to check old mri reports but would be ordering a new mri of head, c spine, and thorasic, and possible lumber punch.
which would be done rather quick as he can see im distressed.
shook my hand and said he would contact me soon.
he was so nice and not dismissive
any thought??
regards bairdy

It sounds like your finally getting somewhere, absolutely great that he's listening and not being dismissive, i hope you dont have to wait too long for the answer. Please try and keep smiling, no matter what the out come :-) it might be a good idea to make sure you have someone with you at the follow up appointment, even if it just gives you some moral support.

Cheers..............JJ

I think this neuro sounds great Bairdy.  He was thorough and allowed you to tell your story.  That's wonderful.  Someone will contact you within 2-3 days to set up your MRI's.

This neuro sounds like a good guy.  He didn't pull any punches and ordered to appropriate testing.  Did he mention any blood work to rule out mimics or had that already been done by the last guy?

I'd say that this was a successful and producting first visit.  Wait for them to contact you about the testing, but don't wait too long. If you don't hear about the MRI within a week, call and pester them if that's possible with your insurance system.

Stick to this path and hope this time it will lead you in the right direction with an ultimate dx.  Wouldn't that finally bring some relief.

Wow I am so happy that he listened to you and did a thorough exam. He sounds like he is going to do what needs to be done. Good for you. Hopefully the new MRI's and the LP will get you the dx so you can maybe get some relief.

I know that having MS is not what anyone wants but just having a name to what is going on is a relief in itself, and then when you start the DMD's and hopefully slow the relapses you will start feeling better.

Good luck and keep us informed.
