MY MOM JUST INFORMED ME THAT SHE RESENTLY HAD AN MRI OF THE BRAIN W/WITHOUT CONTRAST SINCE I WAS NOT INVITED TO GO WITH HER TO HER NEUROLOGIST I MANAGED TO GET MY HANDS ON HER REPORT..THE REPORTS SAYS SHE HAS A FOCAL 5MM HYPERINTENSE T2 AND HYPERINTENSE T1 SIGNAL ABNORMALITY WITHIN THE FRONTAL SUBCORTICAL WHITE MATTER, NONSPECIFIC AS WELL AS LEFT TEMPOROPARIETAL VENOUS ANGIOMA. HER SYMPTOMS THAT LEAD TO THE MRI IS KNUMBNESS IN HER UPPER AND LOWER EXTREMITIES AS WELL AS SMALL SEIZURE LIKE CONVULSIONS WHILE SLEEPING THAT HAS PROGRESS IN THE LAST 3YEARS..CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT ALL THIS MEANS AND IF I SHOULD BE WORRIED SINCE I CAN'T GET AN ANSWER OUT OF HER

VENOUS ANGIOMAS ARE CONSIDERED A "NORMAL VARIANT."  MOST OF THE TIME, THIS TANGLE OF VESSELS IS THERE FROM BIRTH.

"A FOCAL 5MM HYPERINTENSE T2 AND HYPERINTENSE T1 SIGNAL ABNORMALITY WITHIN THE FRONTAL SUBCORTICAL WHITE MATTER"  IS AN ODDITY.  TO BE HYPERINTENSE IN BOTH T1 AND T2 SEQUENCES PRE-CONTRAST WOULD SUGGEST SOMETHING OTHER THAN DEMYELINATING LESION.

SOUNDS LIKE HERE NEUROLOGIST HAS SOME MORE TESTING TO DO.

By the way, the above comes from the welcoming letter from our volunteer moderator, Lulu.  Her words

"YOU WILL ALSO SOMETIMES SEE A MEMBER POST IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.  UNLIKE OTHER PLACE WHERE THIS WOULD BE CONSIDERED RUDE, THE REASON FOR ALL CAPS HERE IS TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE AND AGAIN HAS TO DO WITH VISION PROBLEMS.  SOME OF OUR MEMBERS CAN ONLY READ ALL CAPS EASILY, THEY TYPE THEIR QUESTIONS IN ALL CAPS, AND WE  TRY TO BE ACCOMMODATING TO THEIR NEEDS BY RESPONDING TO THEM IN THE SAME WAY."

I know you mean well but there are many with MS that appreciate all caps.  It is easier for them to read.

Didn't the neuro explain the MRI to her?  I am not a medical professional but at her age  it could mean she  is having mini strokes or it could be from migraines or a host of other things.

If she doesn't remember maybe have the doctor or his nurse explain again via phone.  Maybe she will allow you to listen in?  Or maybe she will agree to another appointment and have you sit in.

Sometimes when it comes to our children, we prefer them not to be involved in our health care but we should have a friend with us that can give us a good understanding of what is being said.

I know you loved her.  I hope you can get some answers.

Capital letters make me so dizzy that I don't read the entries. Writing in capitals upsets a lot of people.
