Headaches

Headaches

I probably know the answer to this but here goes...I have had a headache for  a long, long time now.  I can't get anything for it and i do understand that its better to go after the cause than the symptom BUT I DON'T CARE !!

I have done everything my dr said, I am taking allergy and sinus meds, bought a humidifier for my room, I have tried otc pain meds...nothing is helping. And I did not want to take my methodone but I gave in and took 2 of them today.
I can't stand it nor can i work with it.  I have been trying to fill out forms for Soc. Sec, disability and its very difficult.

I called the Dr and had to make an appt., i guess so she can look at my head.  I will ask my MS Dr about it but thats not until April 3rd.  I feel like a wimp but its getting to me , i really don't like pain nor can I even think with it.

Short of cutting off my head, anyone have a suggestion?  I was thinking about going to the pain clinic, maybe they can get some answers for me.....

Anyway, thats teh problem for the month

hugs, meg

Oh man, Meg.  You are in a sitch.  I really don't know, but know if you've had it this long, you do need to find the cause.  Did you start your DMD yet? I'm forgetting.  Headaches are something I deal with due to mine.

Those sinus pills give me terrible headaches.

Just wanted you to know I've seen this, though I have no good advice.  You can put a heating pad on the back of your neck and base of your head if they are in the back see if the muscles are stiffened up and need some help relaxing.  Just don't leave it in one spot for long...

Hang in there best you can girl til you get to the Dr.

I have bad headaches which are worse since my LP Friday. Mine is on my left side and I lose vision and go numb down the left side. I take alieve. I can't take topamax or beta blockers. During allergy season I have this thing that hooks up to a waterpik that I use to blast salt water and baking soda through my sinuses a couple times a day. Salt shrinks swelling. I only take zyrtec because benadry, claratin, etc. make it worse. I put vaseline in my nose to keep bad stuff getting in and keeping moist. I get acupuncture. I use moist heat on the side of my face at times.

I find that an ice pack around my neck/base of my head can help with my headaches; I think some of mine come from my cervical spine; gets really tight and painful, pulls on muscles, etc.

I can't take sinus meds; I use a neti pot for nasal irrigation, which helps clear out some of the allergens and pollutants.

I know how overwhelming bad headaches can be; sending good thoughts your way and hopes for you finding the best way to lessen or get rid of your headaches.

yuck, I get headaches as well...but only since the last five and half yrs after dx.
I found that if I don't take vicodin it helps. Because of rebound headaches.
Glad the methadone helps ur headaches, it never helps mine, the only thing that helps mine is oxycodone, with a cold pack on the back of my neck or on my forehead.
U could try aromatherapy.
I wish u luck.

Meg,

I'm sorry that your headache is that bad and you are suffering.

I read your post several times to make sure that I didn't just miss it (cognitive issues here, lol) but I didn't see what kind of headache you have.

I get several different kinds and where they are changes what works for me. The most debilitating one is in the back of my head and my neck is a bit stiff and if untreated can last forever! If by chance this is what you have then Baclofen is my answer. They put me on it for leg & arm spasms and it "cured" my headache as an added bonus.

If your headache is different, maybe you could describe it and someone will say, yep that's what I have.

Good luck - I hope you find relief soon

Erin :)

I wish I could make your headache go away for you.  I hope you find to the way to relief soon.

I am suffering with a persistant headache and know how it is hard to think with one.

Hopefully one of your Dr.'s will help you out of it. Headaches are hard to figure out because there are so many reasons for getting them.

Best wishes and Hugs

I do a lot of the same things for allergy and sinus...and have been doing hot packs on my neck and anywhere else that feels good.

I do have a bad neck and it is starting to hurt again, i had a cortosone shot, i think thats the name, 2 yrs ago and it worked all this time. I may do that again.  It was a set of 3 injections and I only needed one.

My dr didnt help at all, soi got very, very sick and ended up in ER on Thursday..i was dehydrated and potassium was low.  They also gave me a shot of something for the headach and all the aches by that time, and i was in heaven for awhile

I don't know what its all about, i get tired of taking vicodin, which i dont have and i am off of methoone now, but it just gets so annoying to never feel good.

I followed my dear Drs advice and bought a humidifier and she gave me an allery spray and a muscle relaxant.....still didnt help.

I go to UCSF on Friday to see my MS specialist, so we will see.
I have always suffered headaches though but now there are so many other problems..

Well, i vented, thanks for your responses.

hugs, meg
