Hi everyone,

I missed you all and appreciate all your prayers.

It has been a rough week and to be honest this is the first time all week i felt like getting on the computer. I still have alot of discomfort & I am having trouble swallowing and of course moving my neck is limited, i feel like the bride of frankenstein!! can you picture it???

Anyway, the worst is over, i am seeing the neuro surgeon on thursday to remove the dressing and give me the ok to start PT... right now I am waddling around with a cane and keep moving to prevent any clots.. my hunny John is giving me the heparin shots... it hurts him worse than me... anyway, off of vicodin... it was too rough on my tummy and made me too sleepy.. it was fine for the first few days though...

i forgot to mention i met a wonderful neurologist at the hospital who took a great interest in me and my case... he agreed many of my symptoms are not from the cervical spine compression and that he did not feel MS was out of the picture and was willing to see me in January to review all my records and see what it going on with me... he said i was fortunate they found the compression while trying to r/o MS... especially i really didn't have much neck pain just limited movement... that was not what we were looking for... just found it on the MRI... he said the compression and tear was very serious and one bad move, another trip or fall and i could have been in a wheelchair... so i thank GOD for everyone pushing me to get the MRIs...
So, I feel good about this new neuro, I look forward to going over my file with him.

wow... i am blessed!!

Thank you ALL for your encouragement... I hope you all had a wonderful  Thansgiving!!

God bless,
Frann

Hey, Frann!

Oh, my GOODness!  I just can't believe how lucky and absolutely sprinkled with sparkle dust you are!  How wonderful indeed that they found such a fragile condition that could have left you paralyzed.  And how wonderful that you found a new doctor to listen to you and take interest in your case, as you say.  God does have a plan for us, as Hot Legs points out.  I'm glad it has such a good result for you so far.

Glad to have you back with us.  What a gem John is.  Thank him again for keeping us posted on your progress.  Keep plugging along.  Every day is sure to be better!  And soon we'll get to the very bottom of what's ailing you for good!

Love,

Zilla*

That is wonderful news.  Yes, you are truely blessed.  Ain't we all?  I'll keep you in my prayers for your appointment in Jan.  It sounds like this was all in God's great plan.

I'll be praying,

I don't know where they sent the specimen since the tech had no info to give. It's actually less than two weeks but seems like centuries.

Thanks Frann.

Hi Ess,

To answer your question:
My bloodwork for neocerebellar degenerative paraneoplasticsyndrome  took about 3 weeks to get back.. in fact, they sent a technician to my home to draw the blood & it went to Athena Diagnostic Labs in MA.

Do you know what Lab they sent your bood specimen to? How long ago?

Hope you get your answers soon and that the results will be negative too.

God bless,
Frann

Thanks so much for the progress report. I guess it's a slow go getting over such radical surgery, but it's so good to know you're heading in the right direction. keep up the good work!

One question not related to this: I believe you said you'd had blood work for possible paraneoplastic antibodies, and thank heavens all came up negative. Did the blood analysis seemingly take forever? I asked when I had mine done and got some vague answer about 'maybe having to send it out,' and now I'm waiting and waiting.
