Thanks, I guess we each need to figure out what works for us. I'm still trying to negotiate how much I can do on my better feeling days without overdoing it. Clearly, a very fine line.

Thanks, I'm trying to figure this all out.
Tried acupuncture and cupping several times for pain and fatigue, with no effect. Massage helpful for loosening up muscles which are tight from deconditioning......not spasticity. Recently cut out 99% ok maybe more like 90% of my sugar and wheat intake. Didn't help specifically with primary MS symptoms but lost 21 lbs and feel better overall. Sleeping better because of it. Though as immisceo points out, eating healthy is not exclusive to complementary medicine. Taking a probiotic supplement which has improved digestion but again, no effect on primary MS symptoms.
Many of us use complementary therapies that do just that—complement (rather than take the place of) standard, disease modifying treatments. It's important to note that these may help with symptoms (which is great!), but there is no evidence that that change the ultimate disease course, which is why we take the disease modifying drugs as well.
I myself use daily mindfulness meditation, eat sensibly, and try and get sufficient exercise. The last two at the very least will be encouraged by mainstream doctors as well. Fatigue is a beast, isn't it?
I just try and do some light daily exercise, which seems to help me sleep more soundly at night. I'll 'fess up, I do drink coffee every morning, but if I want something else, I'll brew yerba maté instead.
Thanks!
I wish you the best-
Hazel
Oh! And how could I forget! My brother sent me the book "3 steps to incredible health" by joel fuhrman MD because on page 15 there's a testimonial of someone who used his diet to improve his ms symptoms. I am going to try this way of eating.
Hazel, I am pursuing some alternative treatments through an iridoligist. And I am also going to see an acupuncturist. I do have fatigue esp when its hot out! And have had minor bladder issues. ( my main sx are numbness in lower limb and pain. ) not diagnosed with ms...yet anyway.I"ll post more after I see Chinese dr. Too tired to write more now. (: good luck to you!
