This morning my sister thought it was all over for my Mom, she started to tell the Heart Surgeon her plans to pull the plug on Mom next week. He waved her off with his handsHand or foot spasms Hand tremor and told her to just wait one minute, that he was in charge of MOM and would decide if she was through fighting. WHICH SHE ISN'T.. That now she needed to rest and recover, he is in no hurry to have her wake up just yet. He would be the ONE TO DECIDE if and when Mom's struggles were over, and she is no where close to that.
I am so grateful to finally hear there is a Voice of Reason watching out for my MOM.. I had almost given up hope this morning after I was told Mom would never wake up... It's awful to say, but my sisters are all crazy, I wish I had my health so I could be up there 24/7 to watch over her and to reassure her she was going to make it. Now my other two sisters are rushing out here... Not a Good Thing...
Our prayers are being answered. I think so many of us have been praying for you and your Mother, that He has heard us.
I am so glad to hear that finally the Surgeon is taking charge of the situation and not your Sisters esp your eldest!!! They cannot play God with your Mothers health. The Surgeon is right, she needs to rest now.
You need to charge those batteries of yours - emotionally and on your chair, and when you feel that you are able, to go over and see your beloved Mama - hopefully today?
She will know that you are there. Believe me - I promise.
Be strong DJ, you can do this.
Sending every bit of energy that I have to you, my prayers and love,
I'm glad the Surgeon was there too. For your sisters to start scheduling when to "pull the plug" is horrible. When you can, you need to make sure the dr's and medical staff know you are to be involved in any decisions. Does your mom have a livingAdvanced care directives will? Her wishes should be paramount in this situation, and I'm sure she wants to fight hard to be there for you.
I offered prayers today at Church during the Prayers of the People, and other times throughout the day. Try to get what rest you can, and as Debi says, recharge your batteries. I hope you are feeling better yourself.
Hi DJ we have not met yet my name is Julie and understand entirely what you are going through i have been there myself with my mother inlaw. She was on life supportSupport Support 500 for 2 weeks due to an underlying condition sadly she was just too sick to pull through . As you said it is not up to anyone but the doctors and your mom to make the decision about how this will finish. I hope your mom is a fighter and the docs help her all they can with her fight. Please know that a lot of people know how heartbreaking these situations are and also how very stressfull they can be. Know that others are praying for your mom and you and that there are many shoulders shoulders intensive treatment Shoulder arthroscopy Shoulder pain in this fantastic forum should you need them.
Many prayers and keep strong.
Kindest Regards
Julie
No wonder you and your mother get along so well, she is as tough as nails, like you are. WOW...her resilience amazes me. It's obvious to me that her doctor is keeping her sedated and quiet, so she can heal. He is giving her all the chance in the world for her to gain strength. Of course, only God knows the course, but we all know, that she is here for a reason. She is not ready.
DJ, you certainly don't need to hear stories of my mother, but let me just tell you that I know exactly what you are going through. I've been in the same position, with my mother having a different illness. There were so many times, I thought it was over for her and it wasn't.
We will keep praying for you and your momma, DJ. You know that. Whatever you need emotionally and spiriitually, I know that it will be provided. God is listening. Prayer is powerful. Where would MY life and the lives of so many others, be without prayer?
We are with you honey. Keep us posted when you can. Please dear Lord, DJ; don't forget to take care of yourself. Please?
I send all my Love and the Biggest Hugs I can muster,
Heather
DJ, I've been through this with my parents, my late wife's brother and then their parents, as well as with many a parishioner as they watched their loved ones lie still in the hands of their doctors and God. Only God is in charge, but all 4 of the ladies posting above have given you good pointers. Most of all, don't let this strress cause you more harm than you've already suffered. You know God is in charge, but you also know that you'll be even less able to help your Mom if you get sicker. Let Him take care of those things that you can't.
Tell your sisters to call me if they have any questions!
Asking God to bless both you and your Mom with His tender and mighty presence now more than ever.
Dan.
DJ,
I am praying for your Mom. My family (they are all gone now) were nuts in time of medical crisis. I told my husband seriously not to let them near me if I was ever in the hospital. Stress freaks some people out in different ways.
I'll add my prayers to all the above. I think prayers can be much more powerful than family members who really don't know what they are doing. Be the strong loving woman you are, hugs Charley.
I'm so sorry your having to deal with this & an illness together! I will be praying!! I find Psalms to be comforting during times of trial & hope that it will comfort you also. If you need anything at all please let me know. I just buried the grandmother that raised me after a long illness so I can relate. Praying for your Mom, your health, peace, calm , & grace! Take care & I love ya! God bless you! Love, Tammy
Thank you.!!! . .My sister hasn't told the rest of the family what the Heart Surgeon told her. They are still thinking there is no hope. I think she just wants them out here which I understand, but not by letting them think Mom's time has ran out. I just sent an e-mail to my sister -in -law {Dale's wife} trying to explain that Laura was wrong about Mom.
I know God is always the One who decides our time, I have seen too many times Him pull my Mom through... I know I could be wrong, {who is to say} but I am choosing to believe that my Mom will come home, she has a very long recovery ahead of her, but she has proven she has the will..to work with her Doctors, so long has they continue to fight for her....
My Daughter Cheri said that Mom's Nurses seem to be sick and tired of dealing with my sister, but this is the way Mom set things up, I have NO SAY IN ANY THING pertaining to my Mom.
She gave my crazy three sisters all her power and they have the legal papers to prove it. They told Mom Not to trust me and she chose to listen to them. Which is her right. I can't fight them, this is the way my Mom wanted it..
The situation is just too crazy and I need to keep my focus on my Mom and my Faith. So now maybe you understand why I have chosen not to be around them any more than necessary,
Again I thank all of you for your Prayers, please keep saying them for my Mom, she really needs all the love & prayers being offered.
Have a love filled day, I will stay strong, the Lord carries me through the difficult times. So having Him and all of you in my Life helps more than you know..
You each carry my love and Hugs with you always.. Now go catch a breeze ;-)

I am so inspired by you & your outlook during what must be such an incredibly difficult time. I am thinking of you & your Mom and hoping that the rest of your family realize how strong you BOTH are...
Hey there, wonderful woman, my prayers are going to heaven throughout the day and night. Your love and faith are so strong, they make the world a better place. Not just your family's, but for all of us, as well. Keep your focus on your Mom, but don't forget to charge your own batteries, like Debs and Maggie said.
