I don't even try the treadmill. My legs feel like concrete, too. And my knees buckle. As far as the dark, I have night lights in every room I might have to walk through at night. I've fallen too many times. To grannyhotwheels...good info about the bicycle base. My doc just recommended it. Good to know you like it.
We just keep on keeping on!
I have one that I started a few months ago and took it to my first visit with my 2 neuro. I would like to retype it.
I think rena705 did a wonderful job on hers.

When I walk my legs just don't want to go, feel heavy is one way to put it. also rubbery is another one...and like Heather says uneven, I nearly fall over...
or when the floor changes from say Tile to Carpet...I find it difficult to walk .. I don't know if its my vision with that one?
going up any form of a hill is bad...I really have to "tell" my legs to move...if you know what I mean??
I should really start a timeline...it's just way to confusing for me to get started?? I'm not sure where to start or how??

Thanks to you! I cannot walk in the dark either. BPPV is: Benign Paroxsmal Positioning Vertigo. That has not neen bothering me lately at least I dont think so but still dizzy feeling going on.
I know I need to just put all this in my timeline.

I find that I cannot walk on a treadmill for very long. My legs feel like they are in concrete.
I also cannot walk in the dark, without using all the walls and door frames just to walk down the hall. Now uneven surfaces just drive me nuts. Gravel, sand, or a slight incline is hard for me to manuever. I am told this is very common in people with MS.

I know, I'm dumb but what is BPPV? (blood pressure ....?)
Also Hun, your not alone with the treadmill thing. I can't hardly walk on one myself. My daughter-in-law has an elliptical and I can't do that one either. However, I can do the ab lounger. It's really a total body work out. I can feel all of my muscles being used. I guess because I'm laying down while I do it? I don't know but so far that and the bicycle thing that the pedals are on a base and you sat in a chair while you peddle them. I actually love doing that one. It really works my legs good.
I hope this helps. The only time I get dizzy is when I close my eyes or when I'm in the dark. I loose all concept of where I am. I've learned to carry a little flashlight that is hooked to my cane. That way when I'm the last one to go to bed, as usual, I can turn the lights off, flip on the flash-light and no more problems.
I'll be praying,
Carol
