Not necessarily so, physical trauma can on its own be the catalyst to CD, fear and anxiety manifesting it's self beyond the more common issue of health anxiety and into CD but true CD is rare, very rare. I had an interesting discussion with a psych who'd done a bit of research on CD, she found stats that only 30% of those dx actually fit the diagnostic criteria for CD so the other 70% are misdiagnosed, which are not good stats in my opinion.
I really think if a neuro says conversion disorder that its in your best interest to get your mental health fully investigated by a psychiatrist or psychologist. If it does turn out to be correct or you fall more into health anxiety catagory, then your going to need their expertese to start any appropriate treatment, if its wrong then at least you'll have the proof and you can move on, so either result helps you in the end. Seriously what have you got to loose, nothing!
Cheers..........JJ
PS If anyone is interested in reading more on this, there is a pretty good health page that will give you some food for thought.
I may be wrong but I thought if you had physical trauma in your background, they could not automatically class you with this disease.....anyone want to jump in?
