I have been reading alot on here about people talking about Conversion Disorder. I wanted to post some information that might be helpful to others worrying about if they have this or not !!

I have done some research on this because im hearing everyone being concerned about this and how doctor are basically dx alot of patients with this disorder.

You can actually go on to www.U tube.com and put in conversion disorders and see people who truly are suffering from this disorder .

These people are telling there stories and what its like to live with this disorder.

It may also help to see and hear exactly what it is and reinforces What conversion disorder is all about by listening to others tell there stories from people who are actually dx with this disease.

I truly wish that doctors would really do more research on this disorder before handing it out to patients as if it was candy.

I must warn everyone some of these videos are very distrubing but, it puts a reality check on conversion disorder which i believe is needed.

I hope this can be of some help for people and an eye opener to the uncertainy that you may have this disorder. I truly believe this may put it to rest.

I need to add that I feel that its sad when doctors are basically trying to brianwash people into believe they could have this disorder.

Please, dont take this the wrong way I do believe to a certain degree that stress on bring on more problems than needed but, this has gone to far.

Take care everyone, Stand your ground when it comes to your body.....
Im sure alot of people on here my not like this comment and its ok but im going to be very blunt and say DONT BE EMOTIONALLY WEAK in front of these doctors either they feed off of that.

Stay positive.........  sending my hugs and love to everyone....  I hope that this doesnt offend anything nor see this in a negative light because that was not my intentions

Not necessarily so, physical trauma can on its own be the catalyst to CD, fear and anxiety manifesting it's self beyond the more common issue of health anxiety and into CD but true CD is rare, very rare. I had an interesting discussion with a psych who'd done a bit of research on CD, she found stats that only 30% of those dx actually fit the diagnostic criteria for CD so the other 70% are misdiagnosed, which are not good stats in my opinion.

I really think if a neuro says conversion disorder that its in your best interest to get your mental health fully investigated by a psychiatrist or psychologist. If it does turn out to be correct or you fall more into health anxiety catagory, then your going to need their expertese to start any appropriate treatment, if its wrong then at least you'll have the proof and you can move on, so either result helps you in the end. Seriously what have you got to loose, nothing!

Cheers..........JJ

PS If anyone is interested in reading more on this, there is a pretty good health page that will give you some food for thought.

I may be wrong but I thought if you had physical trauma in your background, they could not automatically class you with this disease.....anyone want to jump in?
