so tired

Does anyone take anything to counter effect tiredness?

I am taking Tizanidine which is causing me to be really tired, more than usual,  it's great for easing the stiffness in my legs but it does have a few side effects the main one being tiredness...and that's on a small dose which I need to increase but can't because it makes sleep...

Yes, unfortunately I know what you mean, when your talking about Tizanidine, if I take 2 - 4mg tablets, it can put me "out", w/in 90 minutes.  If I take any more than that (say 3/4 tablets), I'm "out" in as little as 10-15 minutes.  Unfortunately, since it's a muscle relaxer, I'm not sure if there is anything you can take to counteract it, besides not taking it.

thanks Stan, not taking it isn't an option at the moment, I walked like a Thunderbird puppet before, my Dr has written off to my neurologist today to see if he can suggest something but I think I may have to put up with it

I divided mine up into 4 times a day. I take one mg. It has gotten better over time. The doctor told me you get used to it. I can't drink coffee so I take Caffeine pills in the morning to wake me up.

Have you tried Baclofen?  It is also used for spasticity.  I can cause the sleepies, too, but not for everyone.  Just a possible alternative...

Funny GG, I had the adverse reaction with Baclofen. I was "alert" not tired.  I found the baclofen did not help, but Valium did during those times I've had spasms.  However, everyone is different with what works for them.

I tried Provigil for fatigue but  I had too many side effects from that medication as well.  Although, it did make me mentally alert, but my body did not simultaneously feel the same way. I still felt I was walking through mud.

I hope you find something that will help you rather than hinder you.

thanks everyone,  I tried Baclofen before the Tizanidine but had to come off it for too many side effects - it's trial and error isn't it?
