bed shaking or me?

I just realized this. Sometimes when I'm asleep, I am awakened by the bed shaking. Always startled by it. Now I'm thinking maybe its me. Does this sound crazy? I dont actually feel like its me, but is it? Sheshhh, maybe I'm going crazy who knows.

Happy Easter to you, too!

In the end I became very synical, because I've really taken a beating on my path to find out what was wrong with me.  I started to just nod my head and not challenge them and to try to be like Teflon and let it slide right off of me.  I began to realize that doctors are very human and with a complex set of problems, I was a difficult case to figure out.  What I needed was a super, super smart doctor!  I know this sounds hokey (is that how you spell it?), but I think God intervened and led me to the correct doctor.

Don't be thinking you're crazy.  You know your body and know something's not right and it isn't all chalked up to depression.  Yes, you may have depression, but that isn't causing your shaking.

Take care,
Deb

I had to fire my first neuro who dismissed me with complex migraines and "I'm not sure what's causing those problems" diagnosis.

Do they teach them that in school?!!! That is the same my neuro told me. Complex migraines and i'm not sure............blah blah blah

Hoping to get some answers soon.

Happy Easter to all,
Hugs,
Beth

Thanks to everyone for the great input. I have made an appt with my GP for Monday. I am also trying to get in to see another neuro just to get a second opinion. I figure it cant hurt. I woke up last night and screamed my husband's name. He sat up and said What?? I didnt know what was wrong, just that I was scared. I told him IM SCARED.
I guess all this is really getting to me. I told him last night if all this is anxiety i am going to be so embarrassed. He said that is because you think you should be able to everything for everyone. I know I went to sleep with all that on my mind. Got up and took a xanax (.25) I finally calmed down.
Thanks so much to everyone on this site. It has really helped to be able to talk.

Hugs,
Beth

Anti-depressants often help with problems that aren't depression, like neuropathic pain.  But typically MS comes with remission and relapses, so it's hard to say what helps and what doesn't help.

I think your first instinct is correct - it's unlikely that you're depressed, and more likely you're having some neurological problems.

When they start going down that road be blunt and tell them "I am depressed because I am sick" not because "I'm depressed and IT is making me sick.  Doctors tend to get them confused and sometimes you have to bring their heads back down to earth.

I experienced the same thing with my doctor. He told me that depression can cause so many strange symtoms, and when people have neuro symptoms that can't be diagnosed, that "sometimes" an antidepressant can help them to feel better. I said, "what the heck" and decided to try one. I wasn't depressed either. But guess what??

After a few weeks I felt better. After a few months I felt like a brand new person. I could not believe it and think that it's a little miracle.

Please consider talking to some one to see if you are depressed. Many people are and aren't aware of it. You don't have to feel sad and cry all the time to be depressed. There are many good self-tests for thin online if you Google depression. Take a moment and do a few of them. You might be surprised, as I was to learn that I had major clinical depression.

Of course, depression can be due to another illness, so this doesn't rule out the other issues that you're having, but the anxiety that your symptoms are causing could move you into depression, so who knows?

Hope this helps!

I'm with Angel.  I've not heard of depression causing tremors/shaking.  I have migraines, which I've had for many years before MS symptoms, and never had tremors like what I had before.  The tremors (and balance problems) I had most likely came from the lesion I had in the cerebellum which showed itself on the MRI.

I had to fire my first neuro who dismissed me with complex migraines and "I'm not sure what's causing those problems" diagnosis.  It was my second neuro that took the time for a thorough exam, MRI's (two), blood tests (14 viles of blood), and LP who diagnosed me.

Like you, I had someone close to me (my sister) with MS, who I compared symptoms with and had a pretty good idea that my problem with neurological.  Our symptoms matched up almost exactly.  But I've gone on for years thinking that my problem was rheumatological.  Many of the symptoms I had matched with lupus, and I've even had some positive blood work (ANA, sed. rate, CRP, etc.) which was low in titer to indicate the problem may be rheumatological.  I was even diagnosed with fibromyalgia (which my neurologist said was bogus).

And like you, I've been referred to a psychiatrist, because the doctor was a blockhead and didn't know what he was dealing with.

Find a new neuro if you're not getting answers and your symptoms are neurological.  Most people here have better luck with an MS specialist, if symptoms are MS-like.  I have a regular neuro, but he's awesome and what I gather, an exception to the rule.

Best wishes,
Deb

Thanks I am going to talk to my GP on Monday, but I think I am going to see another neuro. Dont get me wrong, if its anxiety or something like that, fine, but at least be kind enough to take the time to talk to me and set my mind at ease. Heaven knows that they get paid enough!!
I'm not looking for a horrible dx. Just want to know what the heck is going on.

Thanks all,

I think that if you feel like your doctor is not doing anything for you then you should seek another opinion.

I have never heard of depression causing you to tremble. I don't know if I would put any weight be hide that statement.

I wish you lots of luck
Angel.

Thanks for the replies! Deb, that is the exact feeling.........like my husband would be shaking his foot. Well, I just got the results from my blood tests and all is good, except my cholestrol is elevated (264). Already put in the call to my GP and have appt.
Other than that my neuro says You just suffer migraines and these other symptoms, well, I'm not sure.
I FEEL LIKE SCREAMING!!!!
He also mentioned depression. I dont feel depressed. What the he**!
Should I get a second opinion? I am at the end of my rope..................

When my tremors started up, I thought my husband was shaking his foot in bed.  I kept telling him, "Sweetie, I've got to get some sleep!" and didn't mentioned anything about him shaking his foot.  When I awoke in the morning, the tremors started again and I realized all that shaking was me!

I think it's you! :)

No, seriously, I've had sensations that felt like the floor shaking beneath my feet.  But mine were caused by my leg trembling...  I'm not sure what would make it feel like the bed was shaking.

I get spasticity in the middle of the night and mornings - my legs will stretch out involuntarily, and sometimes they'll shake as they stretch.  Maybe your legs are doing that, and it's waking you up?

Do you have a ghost?  I don't think you sound crazy at all.  You could be having a myoclonus jerk in your sleep. Most people do have them when they're sleeping. But if I were to guess you have a very scary ghost.....:) I hope he didn't hear me......hehehe
Sorry, I am spazie today.
