Ot: Just had a horrible dream :-(

I was able to take an afternoon nap, which was a nice change. Unfortunately, I had a horrible dream. In it I was napping on the couch, and I kept trying to get up and I couldn't. I would think I was half way across the room, but then I would realize I was still on the couch. Or, I would think my eyes were closed, so I would try really hard to open them, but they were already open, I just couldn't see anything.

And, I couldn't figure out how to use my phone without being able to see, so I couldn't call my husband to come home.

I think as MS becomes more and more of a possibility for me, this dream is kind of confronting my two biggest fears about it.

Is it "normal" or usual to have something dramatic happen that fast? I mean, this has shaken me enough that I'm going to figure out the voice controlled calling on my phone tonight (I already keep my cell phone within reach during the day). But, should I be trying to teach my little ones (3 & 5) how to call Daddy if they need to?

Ugh, I just wanted to take a nap so I could stay awake for the whole DVD movie tonight for Date Night. I've fallen asleep halfway through the last 2 weeks!

Sorry for the YUKKY dream :(
Coming from a mother of (5)..I always thought it was a great idea for the children to know how to use the phone in case of emergency.

i would say to them that an emergency would be...If mommy would not wake up, if mommy asks you to call for help, if mommy falls and can not get up, if mommy is choking....These would be reasons to call for help.

They were taught to never play on the phone as it is not a toy.  CAn you program your phone numbers in to tour phone?  Then all they would have to do to call daddy is to push one number.....then you all choose the number..say (6) cause there are (6) children!

Please get some good rest tonight and do not let thios dream invade you.....into ongoing weird constant thoughts.

Hope you got to have Date night  :)

big Hugs to you>>

Hey Jess,

I dont think you necessarily need to act on something that happened in a dream, if it had happened when you were awake, that would be a different thing all together. There is a lot of info regarding listening to what our dreams tells us, thought to be our unconcious voice telling us something. I dont really believe all that, but a lot of people do.

I do think that we sometimes have a thought that goes with us when we sleep, you note that this is 2 of your fears, so maybe without lifes distractions this enabled you to let your fear run unabated. If i asked my mother what she thought your dream ment, she would say your not being able to get up could be an expression of feeling helpless or not being in control. I suppose dreams are like horrescopes (sp) you can make meaning out of anything
depending on what you wish to believe.

I dont think it hurts to have kids understanding what to do in an emergency, for you its 911 for us its 000 but with all the American tv on here our kids are taught very young help = 000 or they always call 911 lol. I would make sure you are very non-specific about it though, dont say things like if mummy is xxx. If you teach why we have ambulances, fire engines and police and what you would do to get help, its proactive information and not scary.

Cheers.........JJ
