Leg Pain & Muscle Tightness

Hi, Everyone.

Any time, I am on my feet, 3-4 hours, I end up with my legg, thighs, even feet; throbbing, and the muscles in my legs and thighs are very tight.

Does anyone else experience this issue?

Thanks.

Hi, Jiminy.

Oh, it is horrible to get it in your back, neck and shoulders. I am so sorry you get it, too.

I've experienced it a few times in those areas and it is miserable.

I actually have several pair of compression stockings from having surgery in '06, and for some reason, I kept them. I used them for a few hours the other night, and they did help. But oh, they are difficult to get off one's feet!

Maybe I will wear them tomorrow under my jeans when my husband and I go out, and see if they help. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi, Deb.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this, too. The pain is terrible for me,a full day and night after I have been on my feet. Massage used to help, but lately, it hasn't helped me.

You've described it, exactly. My muscles freeze as if I am a statue, and I can't even roll over on the bed, without difficulty, and I only weigh 74#s. I could understand, if I was heavy.

So, my husband and I have agreed, we will cut our time out down, and I will come home and rest, and if there is more I need to do, we will go back out later.

I get this in my back, neck and shoulders if I'm on my feet for more than a couple of hours. I have to lie down to get relief. If I don't, it progresses into a pounding headache.

A few years back when I was working a job that required me to be on my feet for long hours, I started wearing compression stockings. It helped a great deal with the leg, foot, and back pain. There was a noticeable difference.

The idea behind the compression stockings (and yes, you can buy dress stockings designed for compression therapy), is to apply pressure inward as your muscles push outward when you're walking. It gives you a little massage with every movement.

If interested, I'd recommend a good brand and stay away from the cheapies you can get at the local super stores. They can be found easily online or at a medical supply store. Jobst is a good brand.

Anytime I do any extra of anything I will have burning and tightness (spasticity) in my thighs and legs.  It keeps me awake at night, and I hate it!  I also get it in my back and neck.  I will be talking with the doctor about this in a little over a week.  This is the greatest source of my pain right now.

Do you find the pain worse at night?  When I'm still, my muscles want to freeze like they are trying to make me a concrete statue!
