Hi there,
I've never personally heard of a connection between Lipomas and MS. Lipomas are basically benign (non cancerous) lumps that form just about anywhere on the body and are due to an overgrowth of fat cells, usually they are not painful but they can be if they form near nerves or contain many blood vessels.
Painful lipomas are suppose to be a feature of Dercum disease (adiposis dolorosa), but another alternative would be Angiolipoma. I did a bit of searching and from what i can see associated with multiple lipomas (familial or sporadic) would be Fibromyalgia, Panniculitis, Obesity (?) and Cushing syndrome but no neurological conditions like MS.
I was thinking you should probably get them assessed by a dermatologist rather than your neuro. Keep in mind that if you do have another medical issue associated with the lipomas, it's very possible that it would be completely separate to your dx of MS.
Cheers........JJ
PS i have only a non painful one my butt cheek (common location apparently :D ) sorry you've got them turning up every where, and painful too!
My husband had a non cancerous lipoma removed from his neck approximately 3 years ago. No associated symptoms or conditions with. Possibly a hereditary cause since both his father and siblings have lipomas located in exact areas. The surgeon who removed the lipoma stated that these are very common and mostly non cancerous.
