On and vision loss

Anyone have complete vision loss with ON?  I haven't but the doctor asked me today if I'd lost my vision.  I did have blind spots and a very blurry area but not complete darkness.
Do people get complete darkness like in blindness?

TO ALL,

WITH 2 YEARS OF REOCCURING ON , IT HAS DAMAGED THE VISION PEMANATLY.MY NEW GLASSES ARE AWESOME, THE DOUBLE VISION IS FINALLY GONE AND THE EYES DON'T WONDER AROUND MY HEAD SO MUCH.

THANK GOODNESS FOR MODERN TECHNOLOGY---EYE DR. PLACED PRISM'S IN DIFFERENT SPOTS OF THE LENSES TO KEEP THE EYES FROM DOING THEIR WONKY DANCE OUT OF THE BLUE.

Thanks everyone.  I have had ON twice.  I didn't completely lose my vision but I had a terrible time. I was wearing sunglasses in the house all of the time.  I had a very blurry spot in my central vision and my vision field tests showed several blind spots.

My VFT is better now so the latest ON has resolved but it has left my eye with damage.  The specialist said he could see Optic Nerve pallor.

I asked my regualr doctor about it and he acted as if he'd never heard of it before! YIKES!

The question of me completely losing my vision made me wonder if that is typical. I could still see out of my eye but not in the normal way.  I do have dimmed vision in that eye and still have color desaturation. Yellows and greens are now worse than reds to me.

Forget floresent colors, they are tourture!  ON is what led to my Ms dx.  I was never treated with anything thing for my ON.  Our doctors up here are so behind!

I am finally at a great MS clinic. They will treat the ON if it comes up again.  Hopefully Avonex will help keep that from happening!

I had never known what you had experience till i had blurred vision recently with a bad bout of vertigo it was so frightening faces became blurred and unrecongniseable in end i could not read my book or watch tele just could lay and listen to the radio, i had been prescribed medication to stop my vertigo but my vison got so bad on this med my dr took me off it slowly the vision has returned to a blurr but a blurr i can type and read with and that is ok, my heart goes out to anyone who experiences this i only experienced it its worst for a week and that was long enough and made me realise how lucky i am to have sight and how frightening it is to lose it. I am waiting to see an ENT and a neuro about my vertigo and numb right side of face i also have fibro, but feel there is something going on here undx.

take care all.

I lost my sight completely in my left eye some 19 years ago, went to the doctors in the morning with blurry vision he panicked because he could 'see the blurring on my lens'. I went straight to A&E at the eye hospital from there. By the time I arrived I could see nothing. The eye specialist also panicked.

This was one of the scariest times in my life with a toddler and a 6 month old baby in the house. Crossing the road felt scary as I had no vision on one side.

I was sent for a CT Scan of my brain to make sure there was no growth on the back of my eye. Diagnosed with ON due to pain and other symptoms - no referal to a neurologist, and no mention of MS. No treatment except for painkillers and I was told 'we don't know if your sight will come back or if it will happen again or if the other eye will be affected, we think it is caused by a virus'.

It lasted for 6 weeks and was similar to 'young at hearts' experience. I  remember crying when I stood in my back garden and could make out the street light shining as it mean that something was happening. It took about 2 years to recover but the sight never came back fully

I have had ON twice since but this only resulted in severe blurring, both times in the same eye which now has some really strange movements in it and tends to drift outwards and flashing lights in the dark or when I close my eyes or move my head suddenly.

I had a positive MS dx late last year but neuro says Benign MS and no treatment just come back if you have any more symptoms.

I HAVE LOST MY VISION DO TO CHRONIC ON.THROUGH THE YEARS,I  HAVE HAD  IT BOTH EYES.

DON'T PANIC IT IS RARE TO DEVELOPE IT IN BOTH EYES.

THE LAST TIME I HAD A SEVERE BOUT WITH ON,I LOST THE VISION IN MY LEFT EYE.IT STARTED OUT PAINFUL,TO BLURRYNESS,TO GREY TO DARKNESS.

MY MS SPECALIST TREATED IT AGGRESSIVELY,1500 MGS SOLU-MEDROL IN ABOUT A HALF HOUR(MADE ME SICKER THAN A DOG) THAN 5 DAY STEROID TREATMENT AT HOME.

IT LASTED ABOUT 12 DAYS BEFORE THE VISUAL ASPECT STARTED TO RETURN,IT JUST REVERSED IT SELF.BLACK,TO GREY-TO BLURRYNESS.

I've not lost either, but did have blurry for a couple weeks.

The Drs I saw asked the same question.

***Who's vision has gone completely out?

Can those who have lost it, can you describe it?

thanks,
