Do they bother you? Why am I reacting so? Any loud noises such as a cough, or a timer going off makes me tense up, feel all panicky inside and want to cover my earsEar barotrauma Ear discharge Ear emergencies Ear examination Ear tube insertion Ear tube insertion - series and rock back and forth. Yup, not a pretty sight. So, I don't, I just get panicky and yell for it to stop. And if some-one is about to cough I tense up and make a faceFace pain. And anything louder such as a yell or sirens makes me jerk and my heart jumps very bad, and my mum says when I am tired it is a lot worse.
I have alot of problems with this and in turn starts headaches again and again. I also can't handle winds blowing in my ears, I have alot of scar tissue build-up in my right ear along with loss of hearing.
I can so relate to this I though it was just anothing one of my "issues" like germafobia... When my husband sneezes it's almost like he's yelling at the same time and I find that very hard on my ears. I always tell him to sneeze softly... if that's possible. Also, loud talkers on the phone... makes me want to end the call right away even when I turn the vol. right down. Is this a MS thing too???
Shawnie... I'm note sure. They are pretty positive i don't have MS and i'm still undiagnosed, so I can tell you that in my case it's probably not an MS thing. But if other people with MS have this symptom, it could be in their case. I hope that you find answers....

This is one of weirdest symptoms of MS, I believe. My hypersensitivity comes and goes. I'll be so touchy and jumpy in the evening for several days in a row caused by any noise or being touched. It seems any and all sounds are amplified. I nearly jump out of my skin, my heart skips a beat, I get really irritable, etc.
I found a link between noise sensitivity and Magnesium deficiency some time back. I've always taken extra Magnesium around that time of the month to cut my PMS symptoms in half, but had stopped after. I now take it all the time. It's been several months since I've been hypersensitive.
When it happens, I've also found that if I take a shower or bath when I'm at my worst, it seems to put a halt to it. I guess the water shocks the system or something. Luckily, mine only seemed to happen in the evening when I could jump in the shower/bathtub.
Hi, Sunny! I am really sensitive to noises, and loud ones are painful to me. Often they feel like a physical blow - especially the clanging of the trashcan. The pepper grinder feels like somebody's grinding my brain. Packing tape and anything high-pitched is a real problem - like nails on the chalkboard of my brain. The other day, my husband was talking at a volume that was painful! I covered up the hypersensitive ear (the left one) and everything was just fine.
What I do when it gets really bad is to wear earplugs. This can make you feel a little insulated, but it's worth it to cut down on the sensory overload. If regular earplugs make you feel too out of it, try cutting a cotton ball in half - that's what I do for my ears most of the time, and it works just fine.

I hope this helps.

I can relate to what you are saying 100 percent.
I just thought I was too sensitive to noise or having panic attacks
I think my nervous system is too hyper . Every part of my body is hypersenitive. I think it is related to ms. I hate it
Be well, Linda
