No brain at times? Stupid thing I did....

You know, sometimes I don't think I have a brain... I'm on gabapentin, started it up again a week ago and my GP wants me to take 1, then 2, then 3 so far..up the dose till I feel it helps.

well, I started taking the 1 a day 300 mg... after a week I took 2 a day... but I started to feel so tired, and dizzy, not vertigo, just lightheaded and had to sleep.  I also got the runs... night and through the day.  I thought to myself what if this is a side effect.  So I looked at the bottle and it says take up to 3 times a day... I realized I was taking them at the same time and not separatly... Like I take my vitamins.. so.. I think that might explain things. boy, I've never been so slow with stuff like this before...maybe I'm just on too many meds?

just be careful with your meds and I'm going to take only one a day for a few days then go up again if needed...and be careful..

If it helps, I've done that before with other medications.  It can prove to be dangerous but I'm glad you weren't much worse than what you were.  Take care!

We all make mistakes, don't beat yourself up.

Gabapentin definitely takes a while to adjust too; I started with 100 mg. capsules way back when, so I can imagine that 300 mg. jumps could be a bit much, and too much so if taken at the same time.

Once I got adjusted, I didn't feel sleepy and floaty-headed any more.

I'm sure your GP is keeping track of your meds.  If you still have concerns about taking too many meds after adjusting to the gabapentin again, then have a talk with your GP.

I personally think that being undiagnosed is a strain on our brains, not to mention our symptoms.  You be nice to yourself; that brain is in a very nice, caring person., who is not stupid at all.  Everyone has brain fluffs now and then.

Hugs,

Kathy
