Hi Pam!!! It almost sounds like some damage to your cranial nerves has happened due to your surgery... I have been having bouts with Bells Palsy, and oddly enough my lips are always numb but I notice when stress is pretty high, one side of my face gets all droopy... (try plucking eyebrows when one side is non-compliant, LOL!!!) I understand being on vacation from the Drs... I hear the name neuro and I want to run in the opposite direction!!!
Hugs,
Ada
Pam this is why Doctors get paid the big bucks, It would be hard to say if this was pre existing and surgery set it off or a result of the surgery. The main thing is to try to get help with the symptoms.

Ada, Lisa and Alex,
You guys are all so wonderful. Thanks for helping me. The numbness is all the time, it started out where my teeth felt like they didn't belong to me but then it remained on my nose and upper lip on the right side. Nothing at all on the left. I guess I need to be patient and wait it out.... I hate to be a patient, LOL or be patient (you know what I mean) ha ha.
Can't wait til it goes away, such a weird feeling!!
Pam
This is after your surgery yes? Or did you have this prior to your surgery as well?
Yes, I know that feeling all too well. I could barely touch the right side of my stomach (on the lateral side) or clothes brushing against it. It was totally weird.
Well, let's pray that this is temporary and it will go away! I have a positive feeling about this!
Yes, this is since my surgery, so I am guessing that it has to do with that. I think I was starting to get worried because it hasn't let up yet. If I lick my lips, my nose tingles on the right side, very strange feeling, but I can live with it considering everything else I have dealt with.
Thanks hun, and I'm glad those antibiotics are helping alittle.
Pam
Yes, there's a possibility that this abnormal sensation will resolve completely or at least you will feel less notable sensations. I would just give it time.
I had a lymph node dissection in my neck and I remember it took almost a year for the sensation of numbness to go away. It didnt hurt, but it was annoying. And that scar was a far cry less than my chest scar. :D
Give it some more time. I think 6 months to a year is a fair time amount to give your nerves the chance to regenerate. It may not be perfect, but at least will be less annoying.
I can only imagine after surgery when the surgeon cuts through tissue, vessels and nerve endings that the severing of those nerves can cause damage and it takes time for it to remyelinate.
I know when I had the right thoracotomy, I had thoracic pain syndrome for 6 months (perhaps a month more) and it took that amount of time for my body to heal and nerves to remyelinate. I know it's not perfect as it once was, because I do have decreased sensation in my right armpit and tricep area. But at least the pain isn't there anymore.
I'd give it some time for healing, you never know and every one is different in the healing process It was just in February so its been about 3.2 months right?
Does this happen everyday or just occasionally?
love and hugs
Lisa
