MRI cancelled for now.

I decided to cancel the MRI I had scheduled for wednesday. After researching my symptoms, I came to the conclusion they would not be able to DX me anytime soon. I decided if i'm to be Dx with MS, I shouldn't be the only one to worry. So, before they tattoo me with an illness I have decided to go insurance shopping. I'm gonna buy disability insurance, life insurance, better health insurance, may even increase my car ins. to 25/50/25 just for the fun of it. I know once an official Dx is given NO INSURANCE COMPANY will touch me with a ten foot pole. After all the ins. industry did report record profits last year.

Thanks for the info. Other than ordering a MRI, my doc. don't have anything that should effect me from making changes in my insurance policies. He ordered a MRI  on my brain and lumbar. I had back surg. in the past and that will be a bigger obstacle than an unconfirmed problem. I will check out the sites you listed. Maybe this really isn't about insurance at all.....maybe i'm just looking for any excuse to delay the process. My mother asked why I havn't been back to the doctor, I told her he had plastic surgery and...now I don't know what he looks like! I don't think she liked my joke to much.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but it's very likely any health-insurance application form will ask you questions about pre-existing conditions. In many, if not most, states this means you must list any conditions (i.e., symptoms) for which a reasonable person would seek medical advice or treatment. If the insurance companies see symptoms that may indicate a serious condition, even if not yet diagnosed, it's possible they may boost your premiums, exclude coverage for any consequent illness or deny you coverage altogether.

If you fail to disclose your symptoms, you'd probably be committing insurance fraud and, if caught, may have trouble ever getting health insurance again. The insurance companies can also request your medical records from your doctors, wich may reveal your symptom, the order for MRIs and other information.

Please excuse me if this is old news to you. And I'm sorry that it may be bad news. It's something I, too, am dealing with and I sympathize with your situation. The best advice I've been able to uncover is to deal with a qualified, experienced independent insurance agent who is familiar with which companies are more likely to accept you. All this may also be true for disability and life insurance.

You sound just like me!  That's what I have been doing the past couple months! Haven't found an affordable health ins yet, lowest cost so far is $800.00 per mo, but have talked to my agent about the disability ins.  Have plenty of life insurance already.

Stay with us and keep us up to date on what's going on.

Good Luck!
