baclofen dosege question?

uk2
Hi All

Went GP and got baclofen she has started me on 10 mg x 3 a day so 30 mg does that sound too much? as some say there on 5 mg dont want to be knocked out yet do want the spasms to go away, reducing my fenntanal patches as well which i'm pleased about as there a strong opiate.

Hi Sam,
I just started baclogen last week and my neuro has me titrating the dosage upward to get to the 30mg a day.  Someone else asked me this question in a PM and here's the dosage schedule he wants me to follow-

these are 10mg tablets

Days 1-3, take 1/2 tablet at bedtime

Days 4-6, take 1/2 tablet in the morning and 1/2 tab at bedtime

Days 7-9, take 1/2 tablet in the morning, 1/2 mid-day and 1/2 at bedtime

Days 10-12,  1/2 tab in the morning, 1/2 mid day and 1full tab at bedtime

Days 13-15, 1 full tab in morning, 1/2 mid-day, 1 full tab at bedtime

Days 16-18, 1 full tab morning, noon and night to bring me to a full 30mg dose

Day 18 I have to call him and give a full report.  My rx is only for one month so I have to talk to him before I add more or take more than one month's ......    he also thinks that the final total dose I will require to control the spasticity will be much more but he believes in gradual dosease.

Be well,
Lulu

That is the dosage they started me out on. Like the others have said, it does take a little to get use to. It made me a little tired at first.

I've been on it since 2007 and 10 mg 3X a day is my dosage (30mg in one day), but since I'm use to it, and the spasms/spasticity can be worse some days, my neuro said that I can up the dosage a little but not to exceed 100mg in one day. The CC neuro said that 30mg a day is actually a low dosage.

I think 30 mg  in one day is the standard amount for this RX to start out on. On my bottle it gives me the option of taking 1-3 a day, but I always take 3 because of the trouble with those nasty spasms.

Take Care

I take 30mg through out the day.

They did take a while to work, but am so glad the doctor prescibed them for me as it has helped with my muscle spasms, they are not as intense now.

not sure how long it takes to get into the system but took one a few hours ago and have increased ear pressure but then these spasm are along the jaw and face as in every other single muscle so could be that given me stomach ache too so i'll see how they go think i'll do what heather says and build slowly.

thanks all

I have it prescribed but I am not taking it...my dose is 20mg two to three times per day. Seems excessive to me but like I said I am not taking it.

It takes a while, I believe to get used to Baclofen.  When I first started taking it, it made my legs feel weak and caused some dizziness.

I take 30 mgs. at bedtime every day.  I cannot take it in the daytime, because I still suffer from leg weakness.  Even after all these years of being on it.

Most people that I know that are using Baclofen use around 50 to 60 mgs. throughout the day.

I personally, would start off on a smaller dose and work your way up to 3 times a day.  It gives your body time to adjust slowly and that's the key to prevent side-effects.
