question

When you guys go into a relapse is it a slow progression/some warning (i.e starting to feel tired then extremity involvement or does it come on without a whole lot of warning and on average how long does a relapse last?

FOR  ALL OF US ITS DIFFERENTLY, A FEW OF MY ATTACKS HAD STARTED OUT WITH TINY LITTLE SUBTLE SYMPTOMS.

MY CURRENT ATTACK HIT ME WITH A TON OF BRICKS AND NO FORE WARNING.

BUT AS THE ATTACKS HAVE GOTTEN MORE FREQUENT,THEY HAVE LEFT THE REMINDERS BEHIND.

HOPEFULLY IN TIME THESE RESIDUAL SYMPTOMS WILL DISAPPEAR.

EACH TIME MY NEURO HAS TREATED THE FLAIRS WITH SOLU-MEDROL INFUSIONS.

MY CHRONIC RESIDUAL SYMPTOM IS SPASTICITY,MUSCLE CRAMPS AND RIGHT SIDE WEAKNESS.

I DO HAVE A DX OF MS, BUT SPMS,HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WITH RRMS WILL HAVE A BETTER EXPLANATION.

I'm not "officially" diagnosed yet but "unofficially 99% sure it's MS" per dr. So, for me I have woke up to some new intense weakness some where.  For example, my first symptom was Optic Neuritis.  My second flare was bilateral leg weakness.  I woke up, my legs felt so tired then they got worse over a few hours.  My second flare started in my Right arm.  Same thing, intense weakness, pins and needles etc that worsened over hours.  And of course my legs did it with the arm at the same time.  My dr put me on oral prednisone x 2 weeks.  The total length I had the symptoms was 5 weeks.  It was really bad x 6 days then slowly improved.  Each flare has left me with a tiny reminder of it's visit.  For example, my legs get pins and needles regularly now but it comes and goes.  My eye never totally recovered.  My arm gets muscle twitches all the time.  I hope this answers your questions..... Hopefully someone with a defiinite diagnosis will answer you too.  GOOD LUCK!  And if you think this is a flare, call your neuro ASAP!
