MS Question What does it mean, that now I am color blind in 5 pages of the colorblind test ?

Today, I had a routine visit and now I am color blind (equallyin both eyes) in 5 pages of the colorblind test.  I had passed last december  2010 and in Feb 2011.
I have had eye pain along with ear and jaw pain in my right eye.
My right pupil is sluggish since November 2010.  I had IV steroids then for 3 days and another much higher dose Dec 2010 a month almost to the day.
Symptoms improved. My vision restored etc.  I am a newbie, and struggle to know what is an alarm or not.  I am on Rebif 3/week.  Ampyra for spasms.
Any suggestions are wonderful.
thx
K (Princepaso),,

I am not sure what color deficits there are and with both eyes.
VEEP with rt eye was abnormal in November 2011.
I am still trying to figure out what to pay attention to and recognize flare and exacerbation.  I do have temporary symptoms that peak with heat exposure, even with a hot shower (which I used to love).
thanks for your response

Thanks for responding,   I have consulted my retina doc and ms doc.
I start a 3 day course of solmedrol and hope I can cope.  I am a newbie, so my concerns were taken seriously.  Home infusion will be much better than the hospital.  I hope to work and go out of town to a national horse show..
I am on rebif, ambien, ampyra,  and tapered prednizone. I was dx Nov/Dec 2010 but finally landed with an MS doc.
I have never had color deficits and have had subtle symptoms to symptoms I try not to ignore.
Sleep is finally improving. Ampyra at night caused severe insomnia, as Lulu mentioned, such a help to have read that, and inquired my ms doc
Well, I am living and learning and will learn how to infuse and do insulin injections tomorrow.
Many thanks
Kirsten

My visit to a Neuro Op, she explained to me that the doctors now realize that we (MS patients) can have 'chronic optic neuritis'  that can effect both eyes. It is unusual that your both eyes were equal at the same time.
I had my right eye first and then next visit, my left eye was about equal to the right.
And this is the kicker, my Optic Nerves "looked" good!!
I don't understand all of this, and I have a strong stabing pain in my left eye, with no obvious reason for that.
Hope you feel better soon.

You can have some distortion with color with the "red" hues with Optic Neuritis.

I have no idea why you passed the color vision in the past, and not recently.  If only 1 eye showed some color deficits, it would make sense that would be the eye with ON.  Has the other eye had ON at all since the previous color tests?

Seems like there might be some confusion perhaps on the part of the person testing this?  Have diff. people tested your color vision or the same person?

Could be you had a color deficit all along (which would make sense that both eyes "missed" the same color plates.) and the person that tested you didnt do that great of a job

Just a couple thoughts...

I hope the Rebif and other meds help you with your symptoms.  Welcome to the boards!

I think everyone deserves an answer to any questions asked on our board.  I found this on page two so I am bumping it up.  I have no idea of how to answer.  Hoping another member can understand and be of some help.
