Thank you everyone! I have a physio appointment Monday so I will see if she can help.
I still have brief/mild episodes a couple of times a day so I hope it is working its way out.
I also have vertigo & dizziness which are both very different to each other. I also get the nausea for some time after the Verigo has gone.
I know mine is caused by my MS or a brain stem lesion. I did have to go through an ENT & then a Neuro Opthamologist to exclude vestibular or inner ear problems. This entailed lots of testing to find the cause.
If it is the most common cause of vertigo or BPPV they can do the Epley Manouver & this can work well sometimes with only one treatment. This is trying to reposition the crystals into the correct position. When you said it happened when you turned over in bed it made me think of one of my family members who has the same problem or with certain head movements as well. She has BPPV & goes straight to the Physio who does the Epley Manouver & she doesn't have it again for years.
The ENT is good at determining if it could be your ears so I would start there.
Good Luck with it. I do sympathise as I had 10 months of it straight & I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
Take care
Karry.
Vertigo can also be a part off or a symptom of MS
For years i thought i suffered from labrinthitus it's similar to vertigo and the doctor told me it's like a virus of the inner ear..
But there are days where i can be sat at my desk and all of a sudden the room will spin round and 5 mins later i'm ok again..
My first bout of it lasted for about 3 months and was not able to drive or even work..
but i would get it checked out if i were you just incase it is a flar up..

I've only ever experienced vertigo whilst walking (with out nausea) the environment is basically moving, it tilts and it feels like i'm trying to walk in a blow up castle but i'm on solid ground. I weave all over the place fighting gravity, balance is all over the place whilst i'm trying to stay up right.
Its a totally different feeling to when i've experienced dizziness, again i dont have nausea, I feel like i'm spinning and the environment is stable and if it happens its usually after i've stood up. Sometimes I get the cartoon stars flashing but more often my vision just greys out 10 steps or so later, its delayed and i never know if its going to happen or not, I always assume not.
If i'm walking I have to sit down, before it makes me fall down, if I've stepped up say on a stool or ladder, i hang onto the wall or what ever i can and wait it out because it usually stops within a minute or so and i can carry on doing what i was doing.
This happens if my eyes are really playing up and also if i've been pushing my self too hard, and then there are the other times when i'm obviously in another episode and standing is the least of my problems lol. Like ess said "If this keeps up, maybe you should see an ENT" and get it assessed.
Cheers.......JJ
Vertigo can be caused by a number of things... I've had it where I wake up with it in the morning, and it is gone by lunch - and it was like that for a week - I have also had it most recently back in March - went out with friends, had a few drinks, and it triggered vertigo... more mild, and only when I was horizontal... I would spin when I rolled over in bed and it would wake me up. Lasted 6 weeks. I don't drink anymore. LOL.
I do have a peripheral vestibular disorder...
So... with you... can be triggered by weather changes, dehydration, menopause, medication... even vitamin deficiencies. And yes, MS.
Try to keep track of how long it lasts and if you can identify what sets it off. Good luck - hope you feel better!
If this keeps up, maybe you should see an ENT. They can do testing (VNG) that is often helpful in determining the source of the problem. Often it is the ear and there are treatments for that. Sometimes it is the central nervous system, though, and that provides evidence towards the diagnosis of MS..
Hope others jump in here with suggestions.
