Thanks so much for the info....
Have a great day yourself....Heather
The new eye test is called Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). It was developed by Dr. Peter Calabresi at Johns Hopkins MS Center and is only in the experimental phase. It is supposed to to measure the thickness of nerve fibers in the retina, which shrink in MS. It was used at Hopkins to measure the progression of MS rather than using brain MRI. It was on CNN and on the internet NY Times on 10-16-07. A relative told me about it.
Also, google McDonald Criteria of 2005 and you should find some info.
Have a nice day....Craig
Wow...I didn't know that. I've often thought that Drs have missed stuff with me to do with me eyes because I have an existing eye condition called Kerataconeus. When I had double vision etc back in Feb and eye pain they put it down to the condition although I know it's not normally a characteristic of the condition..also when I had the test when you watch a blue square on a chess board tight thing...I couldn't even see the blue dot so not really sure how accurate that test was...lol.
I would be reallt interested to learn more about this though....look in to my eyes...he he.

That's the one I looked at, but I thought that was from 2001. I got a post from WebMD this morning, how they have a new way of looking at the nerves in the brain and percisely damage from Multiple Sclerosis; by looking in the eyes. There wasn't much to the article and has only been tried on a small number of patients. Wouldn't that be cool, if they could come up with a way to diagnose MS, just by looking into the eyes?
Have a good day Em.
Hi Heather, Quix did a post a while ago about the McDonalds Criteria. I think this might be the most 'recemt' criteria used.
Here is a good website: http://www.mult-sclerosis.org/DiagnosticCriteria.html
Hope this helps
