Muscle/Rib pain OOOUUUCCCHHH!!!

I don't know if this has to do with the lesions in my spinal cord or just from being inactive??  I have the worst pain on the bone/muscle the connects your ribs together in the front, and it is also pulling under my shoulder and along a couple ribs in the outside.

The pain is often unbearable and it feels like my pectoral muscle is going to rip off the bone.  I have an old shoulder injury on that side and I am wondering if I have just aggrivated that area since I don't use that arm as much, or if this is some for of spasticity or MS hug type issue.  It has been really bad for 3 days now.

Does anyone experience muscle pain in their chest area like this?
Thanks

Thanks ladies.
Jen- Yes I do have several spinal cord lesions.  I've been having a numbness that spreads out around my back at the spot of one of my T-spine lesions.  It feels different though.

Red- This one doesn't hurt when I breathe.  I do have a couple of ribs that stick and make breathing difficult.  This one is just super painful to the touch and sometimes when I move.

I am gonna read up on Jen's spasticity post.

Hey, I forgot to ask if you have any spinal lesions.  I have several in my upper thoracic cord and one in my lower that cause spasms and spasticity.

The muscle that's currently spasming/spastic is right at the level of those upper lesions, and I frequently get spasms around the torso.  It seems like I've always got some problem with the line around the torso at the level of those lesions.

You might try a cold pack on the area.  I find that it helps the muscle stop spasming.

Does this feel like the MS Hug?  The hugs can be very bad, they can even break bones.

The only other thing I can think of is pleurisy.  That is an inflammation on the outside of the lung.  Does it hurt when you breathe?

I just bumped up a post on muscle spasms that you should read - good info in there.

I have a similar problem, but it's the muscle in back between my shoulder blade and spine.  The muscle is one of the ones that turns my head to the right, and whenever I do so, it jerks and catches and hurts like heck.

I've been taking baclofen, and just went up to four pills a day - things seem better today, but I don't know if it's because the muscle's better, or if it's the medication.
