There was a month or so when I was cold all the time - I'd get home from work and wrap up in an afghan on the couch. My body temp was around 97.4°, sometimes a little higher. Then I got sick with a flu bug, and spent a week with a fever of 99° to 101.° After that, my temp went back to normal - 98.3° or so.
Weird, huh?
Another thing that can cause this is heart meds. Are you on any? My hubby started taking BP and cholesterol meds several months ago and has been freezing all the time ever since. His cardio said it's the meds. They cut back a bit and he's at least not shivering al the time now.
we're really th eodd couple now, since I cannot tolerate heat and he is always freezing, lol!
Take care

Hi there! My doc. was convinced that I had a thyroid problem too, but after testing three times, and all coming back fine she's now ok with that. I'm cold too all the time, I carry jackets in our southern 90 degree weather. :)
One thing to mention- they found out that my hormone levels were completely out of wack and since they've tried to adjust them I've had a better time with temp.'s. I'm still cold, but not shaking cold. This can happen at any age (grin) mine were wacky at eighteen (maybe even before). They can't say that's what makes me so cold, but perhaps... it may be this wonderful thing called MS too, as we are finding out. Are you dx? Sorry, can't keep track of everyone. I have the dx of "possible MS" and am now playing the waiting game.

Thanks for the advice. My neuro just tested all of the thyroid tests you mentioned, even the antibodies. She was pretty convinced that all my symptoms could be thyroid, but when all those, even the antibodies came back normal she thinks MS more than ever.
Are things done differently in the states? I can't imagine asking my dr for specific tests...I think he would look at me like I'm crazy or something??
I wish I could ask for things like that...I asked for contrast in my MRI of my neck and head...he looked at me as if I'm nuts and said he has never heard of contrast for that part of the body?? so, he said to ask the Neuro when I see him...which I will do
I get cold but usually in the afternoon...but then I'm in BC canada...hehehe....it's not warm here yet...raining alot.
I think I'm abit yappy today?
good luck...

Yup, agree with Elaine and Quix.
Have your thyroid tested. I have a friend who tested normal on the TSH, T3, and T4, but abnormal on the antibodies. She has Hashimoto's.
Be persistent on the anti-thyroid anitbodies!!! I've had my neuro and my PCP question my thyroid due to a couple of symptoms, but I can't get anyone to test the antibodies, just the TSH (3 times) and T3 and T4 (once).
My friend said to insist on getting the antibodies tested. Hopefully, you have more luck than I. Sometimes, I'm just not persuasive enough.
Hope you can get some answers soon! Pat :)
I totally agree with Elaine. The most common autoimmune disease associated with MS is thyoid disease. You can definitely have both. I have heard, but cannot verify, that you can be symptomatic when the regular thyroid function studies are normal, but the anti-thyroid antibodies are elevated.
So, your doctor needs to send tests for:
T3, T4 and the Thyroxine Index often called a T7
TSH
Anti-thyroid antibodies
Yes, this cold be a neuro symptom, but you need to have the regualr stuff ruled out first.

Have you recently had blood tests to check your thyroid? Being hypo-thyroid makes you feel cold all the time. (most of the time anyway).
You would need a blood test for T3 and T4 levels and a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and thyroid antibodies tests, which are all simple blood tests.
I have no input on whether or not this is a neuro related problem.
