Problems with cold?

I know that with MS the heat is supposed to make symptoms worse.  However, when I get cold I find that things get worse.  Does anyone else have more difficulty doing things like controlling their hands and speaking when they are cold.

I'm definitely a "Goldilocks" girl - not too hot, not too cold, it's gotta be juuuuust right.

MS just makes me sensitive to just about everything. Now having a low thyroid is making things a little tougher.

Extreme temperatures are not good for me. Heat is worst but cold is not great.

I have more trouble with tremors and control when it is colder. Or even if the temperature drops. It doesn't have to be really cold just cooler. Talking I have trouble with at times but not sure temperature affects it. Heat drains me fast. I'm a limbolander so I can't tell you its a MS thing.

Glad to hear I am not alone.  Thanks.  I find that I have a hard time typing when my hands are cold and just can't control the dexterity.  I also find that I slur and mix up words.  Doesn't help that I live in Wy where it is cold 10 months of the year.

I share your pain...  I was diagnosed in November, but MS was on the table since June.  The summer heat would make my thighs tighten up and feel kinda fatigued.

But couple weeks ago when the cold moved into our area (finally I guess)...  I thought I was actually starting a flare.  I had fatigue worse then anytime before and it was nonstop, not a good day / bad day type of thing.

I also get the tight / stiff / tingling hand sensation and my legs bug me like no heck, almost but not quite a spasm.   My feet have had a burning sensation too.

I was worried enough that I went in to see my neuro and she not a flare, no new symptoms and all my physical eval was about the same, but said many people have worse reactions to cold....  yeah, lucky us...

One thing I found that works well for my hands is the gel pack that you can nuke for like 20 -30 seconds...  or a heating pad on low.  Not sure why, but heat works well to relieve my hands.  Doesn't work on my legs, but amazed how much it helps my hands.

Hope some of my babble helps...  and if nothing else, know you're not nuts or anything, cold really does make symptoms worse!!

Good luck and hope you find something that helps to relieve the cold problems!
