Vaccine before relapse/onset of symptoms?

Hey All,

I asked a question buried at the end of another post--Is there a link between getting a vaccine and the relapse/onset of MS (or other auto-immune diseases) symptoms?  Young at Heart and I both had a tetanus vaccine before symptoms emerged/remerged.  Is this just a coincidence or not?

Hi,

Back in December 2006 I had the Influenza shot and two weeks later had a relapse.  When I called my neuro, she had me on a 5 day course of steroids at home and told that even she could not have prevented me from taking the flu shot because the side effects of such shots are not the same in each MS patient, as MS affects everyone differently.  Needless to say, I was not allwed to have the shot this past December.

My advise is that before you have a shot or take any medication talk to your doctor about it.  He/she is the one indicated to decide whether you can have the shot or whatever medication you can have.

Take care,

Zulma

This is one good example of - if you have a question that is of different subject matter from the thread post, than you should start a new post.  Thank you for reminding us all, how easily our posts can get lost in something else.

I hope that Quix can chime in and answer this one for you.  To tell you the truth, I really don't know.  I just had a tetnaus shot about a year ago and did not notice any changes in the MS at all.

Very good question.  I am anxious to know that answer.
