No dx., where do I go from here?

My symptoms started 18 months ago, and then included tingling and slight numb feeling on one arm, sensitive skin (almost burning feeling) on both arms, feeling off-balance, urgency to urinate, tinitus, and eyes sensitive to light, limbs falling asleep easily, muscle spasms and jerking, some muscle and joint pain.  My muscles tire much more easily, also.  Some symptoms only lasted a matter of weeks, while some remain to some extent.

I had several blood tests (ana, lymes, sed rate,  B12, and more) - all normal.  I had a brain and cspine MRI, results were "unremarkable".  The 1st neuro suggested my sx. were caused by anxiety and sent me on my way.  After several months and some new symptoms, I went to a ms specialist, who did neuro. test and reviewed mri's, and sent me on my way. (I did get a dx. of carpal tunnel in both hands from emg test.)  I seem to have other "nerve impingement" sx., as well.

New symptoms include ankle and toe numbness, feeling shaky, and shooting head pains.  As with my other symptoms, at times of the day they are not as noticeable as other times.  I was told this is not typical of ms, and I was also told I had too many symptoms to be ms.

So far that seems to be the only dx. that truly fits, (to me) and I have a brother with ms.  I guess my Q. for you is, 1) Is there any other kind of condition that could cause my symptoms?  2) when should I repeat mri? How long does it take for lesions to show up?  Should I push to have a LP done?

I am an otherwise mentally, healthy, active mid 40's female from a northern state.  (And I never had anxiety until possibly AFTER  sx. started)

Thanks for your time.

Have you been checked for Lyme. That can mimic ms symptoms. Visit the Lyme forum here

Hi Lisabeth, your tingling and other nerve problems in arm could be because of the Carpal Tunnel. Other symptoms is not so easy to find out (the cause). I have had so many strange symptoms, some of the same as you, for more than two years now. I have learned to relax a little, because I have been through many tests and this is not showing on them.

I´m in Limbo and I have to keep on living my live. If this is something to worry about it will "come out" one day, when there is time for new tests or if it gets much worse. There are SO many of us out there with strange nerve symptoms and no name for it. I sure hope you get better, and that you get that figured out.
My best,
Dagun
