Numbness on foot

The skin on my left foot went numb suddenly.  It is an area of about 2" x 4".  It appears to only be skin deep.  Could this just be a pinched nerve or do ms patients feel this. Three years ago, the same thing happened to a small area on my abdomen. It stayed numb for approximately one month. I had gone to a water part and just guessed I had hit a nerve and damaged it.  Other things have occured that make me question ms: I had an occular migrane three years back, last month I felt like my eyes were not working together, it felt liike it was a strain to see and hard to keep my eyes open but I guessed that was related to my Lasik(year ago) which had complications(inflamation) and a mild return of astigmatism, I'm getting very bad at remembering names and faces(I teach some one hour classes and see the kids every week but continue to call some by the wrong name or I don't remember their names, I forget what I was talking about if interupted. I am currently suffering from upper abdominal pain one hour after eating which I belive is a separate problem. Should I go get the foot checked or just wait a month to hopefully return to normal.  I know diagnosing ms requires a MRI but I'm afraid of the radiation.

An MRI involves the use of high-powered magnets.  There is no radiation involved.  (Check out the health page on 'How an MRI works' for more info.)  If youre having cognitive problems and numbness with tingling, it's enough for you to go to the neurologist - couldn't h urt!

Oh, I forgot to mention I have a small area above my left ear that starts to tingle and get stronger then disappears. That has been going on for 1 1/2 years.
