MRI results

Hi I had an mri in 2009 and they found non specific t2 hypersensitivity and minor gliosis. This was done with contrast. Took hours too. Today I had another one took 30 mins no contrast totally Norma! Is it possible? I have a numb mouth and cheeks. Intermittent numbness pins and needles stabbing pains and weakness in my arms and legs. Not to mention headaches and vertigo. Not sure what ekes to do. Can't get into a neurologist till February next year 4 months from now.
Any help would be great

Most of the sensory sx's that mimic MS, are more commonly diagnosed by your family dr, often discovered by abnormal blood tests eg viral, thyroid, hyperglycaemia, Diabetes, Lupus, vit B deficiency etc etc. If your medical history includes headaches, migraine is a 'possibly' mimic that you could speak to your dr about. We have a health page, see below that lists a few of the other alternate dx.....

Hi thanjs for your response.  I got into a neuro yesterday and he feels there is nothing to worry about which is good but I still have no idea what is causing my symptoms. What other things mimic ms?

Hello and welcome fellow Ozzie to our little MS community,

You ask is it possible and the answer is yes, its possible if the 2009 MRI was done with MS protocol, it would of been smaller slices, which take longer and contrast can double the time. If your most recent MRI was done with out contrast that would of reduced the time it took, and if it was just a general MRI and not done with MS protocol, bigger slices so less time again.

Then just to add to the confusion, the actual MRI matters, type eg open or closed, and strength eg 1T, 1.5T, or 3T can make a huge difference to what it picks up, do you know anything about the MRI its self? Oh and another thought was if the 09 one, included a spinal MRI and this one was just the brain.

I would of thought your sx's could indicate a neck or spinal issue, not necessarily MS because MS doesn't typically effect all peripherals, which your saying is happening to you. MS typically produces unilateral sx's eg part of a leg is numb, so I'm thinking it might be one of the MS mimics. What other tests have you had between 2009-2013, anything show up abnormal?

Cheers........JJ
