Possible MS??

So has long as I can remember I've had growing pains.  The older I got the more I got pains and they are now unbearable.  Then I stopped growing still had growing pains. I got married, pregnant and pregnant two more times.   I had my three sons pretty close together( my parents are the same age as my friends grandparents)

When my youngest son was about a year my eye started be blurry and twitching will last for about a month and go away, since then it happens at least twice a year.  Legs pains all the time my 24 b-day I woke up so stiff and have really never been able to shake it off.  I shiver forever when I get cold to the point I know I'm wArm cause I'm standing next to a wood stove.

I went to the doctors this fall thinking it was fibromyalgia my dad and sister have it.  I explained my growing pains, eye and numbness pins needles some days I have great balance and the other days I look like I'm drinking.  Even thought I'm not pregnant I still have the prego walk and back pain.   I didn't notice this my loud family members brought it to my attention.

I was shocked when MS was brought up as a possibility.  Went home thinking they have no clue.  May this year 3rd time since January I've had horrible pms cramps in my legs to my butt back and it lasts for days it hurts to shave my legs touch my legs I can't keep my eyes open, only time I get headaches and blurry vision and my son says my leg was shaking weird  and I didn't notice it I was doing the dishes.  9 straight days of h#ll.

This appointment landed me in to see the neurologist in 8 days and just waiting on the mri truck arrive back at my local hospital to get an mri of my spine, I'm a country bunkin.

Oh I also went through physical therapy this winter. which was nothing but torture I couldn't go anything for two days and nothing other then the bare minimum for the next week. I'm 30 with 4 kids know I feel like I'm 70.  Oh I'm not the biggest fan of doctors wish I didn't put this off for so many years.

Sorry if this is confusing,  I'm very confused and just found out MS does run in my family tree. Both sides.  And my labs show muscle wasting.

Hi and welcome,

There are many other medical conditions that could account for the issues you've mentioned, you've had 4 children close together so it could even be a structurally related to your spine, so before you get too worried that it could be MS, please keep in mind that it honestly might not even be anything like a neurological condition like MS.

I'm not sure what country your from or how far you are away from the large hospitals in your state but the 'MRI truck' may not be a very good option to investigate for MS....it might be worth considering if you should be arranging your brain and spinal MRI's at one of the larger hospitals or clinics if they have a 3T strength MRI and run MS protocol (smaller slices than standard) if the truck doesn't.

Apart from the muscle wastage do you know if you had any clinically abnormal neurological signs?

Hope that helps........JJ

So now you are under a neurologists care? Have they gotten the MRI back. It can take awhile to figure out if it is MS or not. It took me two years. I am also not a fan of doctors. You can have them treat symptoms before you are diagnosed. They can give you muscle relaxers for cramps and other medications for nerve pain. They sent me to a pain clinic.
Every case of MS is different. It may not even be MS.
