Weird Eye? should I be concerned?

Hi Guys,
I am not sure if this is related to anything at all and even if it is something to be concerned about but it's very new to me and possibly not related to MS/Optic neuritis or whatever but was curious.

I was very, very tired last night, more exhausted I might say and laid down next to the open fire too warm up as I had been outside all day and it was freezing.  As I got hot I developed some pins and needles in my leg and my weakness seemed worse (but this always happens now when I get hot or have shower etc.) but when i was looking around my vision had these round circles in the field of vision, quite large, moving around, almost like bubbles floating but a blue/grey colour and when I moved my eye it was like they moved with it.  It reminded me of when you take a photo with a flash and you get the after circle flash of light.

This lasted for about an hour and then I went to bed and I haven't had it since I woke up.  Now I wondered if it could have been like my migraine aura ( I didn't have a headache) but I know you can have migraine without headache.

Should I report it to anyone, or is is something everyone (even people without neurological probs get)... is it related to anything?  My field of vision was so obscured I would not have been able to drive a motor car.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Udkas.

Hi there,

Yes it does sound migraine related, if was a relapse then there is a good chance that you would still have it.

Maybe - as my Grandmother used to say - it was something you ate :)

take care,

Debs

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments.  I had to go back to the eye dr today to get the result of my field tests etc. so I asked him and he seemed to think it was migraine headache related, that if my nerve tracts have a spasm this can cause the visual disturbances that I reported.  I think he might be right seeing as it didn't last long.

He said yes I have had optic neuritis, but all is good at the moment. So I see him in 6mths for a re check.

I do have a headache today but that's from the stress of raising teenagers...lol

Cheers,
Udkas

Kathy,

Hi! I hope other than your bad night you are doing well :)

I agree that since it was all gone by morning I would just make a note of it to mention to the doctor next visit. If it does come back then call and tell them about this time as well.

Take care

Hugs,
Erin :)

I've had my eyes do weird things after being exposed to heat - it seems to happen very quickly.  So I wouldn't worry about it, unless it shows up without heat.

Shell gave you great advice.

I have migraines with aura and my experiences with them sound similar.   I only have the aura for a short period and I can't drive when I have them.  I get the aura by itself and the headache comes after.   If I take motrin while I have the aura, I will not get the headache.

Glad it didn't last too long.  I agree in making a note and call if it happens again.

Take care!
Pat :-)

Getting overheated does all kinds of bad things in MSers as you know, so it's worth jotting down so you can bring it up at your next appt. See what the Dr. has to say.

Definitely make a call if it comes back and sticks around.  Glad to hear it didn't stick around. I'm not versed enough in migraines to know if this can happen, though what you describe does sound familiar to me.  You did the right thing - not driving like that.

feel well soon,
shell
