I think he's probably fine, if it's just the tip of his index finger.
Reason I say this is because I'm getting phantom cold sensations in the tip of my nose, my right lower lip, and the corner of my right eye. There's something very peculiar about having a cold sensation right there in the eye - it's like I dropped ice-cold Visine in that area.
Now I think it's possible that MS causes anxiety, or at least the symptoms of anxiety. It's also possible that anxiety can make your symptoms worse. But in this case it's much more likely that you have nerve damage causing the itch, rather than anxiety.
I srongly Suggest you call your Dr. ASAP! This could be a Serious reaction to one or more of your medications..It sounds ike you are breaking out with a SERIOUS CASE OF HIVES CAUSED BY MEDICATION.
Please call your Dr. NOW!!!
Before i was really diagnosed i went a very long period of itching, the more I scratched the worse it got..I didnt ask about and have no idea what it was but it finally stopped. It was really miserable, i put heat on it , ice on it..nothing helped.

She may be saying anxiety because that is what Xanax is usually prescribed for. A lot of medicines for anxiety and depression are also used for things with the nervous system because they can help cut the signal of pain or itching. When people with MS experience pain, itching or weird sensations it is like the ghost pain an amputee experiences from nerves being cut. In our case the scarring cuts the signal. Sometimes these drugs work and sometimes not.
