Recent MRI with dye test results

Hello everyone
I received my test results and I'm a bit confused as to what they say. Please help..

"There is bilateral and symmetric callosum T2 and FLAIR hyperintensity.  An additional linear focus of T2 and FLAIR signal hyperintensity with perpendicular orientation is noted in left parietal lobe. There is overall heterogeneity in subcortical white matter signal on both sides. Small slightly T2 hyperintense subependymoma nodules are seen bilaterally but more so on left side"

Impressions: Several white matter lesions in the brain and spinal cord are suggestive of a primary demylinating process. The lesion noted at the level of the thoracolumbar junction on prior MR persists..

Sorry that was so long....I'm just a little anxious...

(((hugs))).  It's never a good idea to get the MRI report back before you see the specialist.  They can insinuate very scary possibilities.

Basically, the radiologist has suggested that the particular lesions noted "could" be suggestive of a demyelinating process (such as ms).  This is because of the specific location of the lesions found on your scan.

However, brain lesions can be caused by a myriad of conditions, including migraine, autoimmune, smoking, lupus, Lyme, and many more.  Even spinal lesions can have other causes.

Why were you sent for an mri in the first place?

Unfortunately, there's not much an online community can do to help you.  It's going to take a conversation with your neurologist to sort out what is going on.  Often if the lesions are tiny, they will be termed "non-specific" by a neurologist, even if the radiologist considers them potentially important.

Big breath.  When do you see a neurologist for follow up?

It's started 2 years ago...loss of balance, vision in my left eye went blurry,my left arm and hand are numb, tingling in my left leg ,fatigue and I'm in pain 24/7....Wait times to see a neurologist are crazy here. I've had a CT scan, and 2 separate MRI''s,  the last being with dye....I've been waiting 18 months and it's been pure hll
I finally got an appointment April 18th
I'm so sorry, but that's not too long a wait now.  Hopefully you will have some answers, although please know that this process can be extremely slow and frustrating.

(((hugs))) and keep us posted, Kimberly.
