This sounds like spasticity to me. I'm having a real problem with this lately. It keeps me up at night because I am in pain from it. Plus, I feel like I'm moving my legs with concrete attached to them during the day.
I think the cold weather makes this worse. I would talk to your neuro about it.
Deb
I agree with Deb, and stasticity is no fun! I've had it since I was 17 years old (now 37) and it increasingly got worse over those years and it's now all over my body. Sometimes your muscles might feel hard and stiff (the rigid feeling you're having), while other times, they feel bruised under the skin.
I'd say the hard ones are the most difficult and can be very debilitating, and I say that from experience because I couldn't walk back in the 90's due to both calf muscles becoming so hard/tense, that the only way I could get around is to crawl on my knees.
I sure hope you have someone that can give you some awesome massages, but most of all, I hope it doesn't get worse in more areas of your body.
Hugs, Nickie
Thanks Deb and Nickie! I do worry if you say it could be debilitating, especially if it ends up effecting my right arm. I have a birth defect of my left arm, so I use my right for pretty much everything.
Do you think this is worth a call to my neuro...he will then want to see me right away? Or is it more of a "bring it up at the next visit" type of thing? My doctor is appealing the insurance decision to deny the re-do of the brain MRI, he wants all three that he ordered (Brain, neck & spine) done at once and then he will see me that day. So, most likely I will be seeing him in the next 2 weeks or so.
My hubby is more then willing to give massages, lucky for me! LOL
Thanks for the replies :-)

So that is what spasticity is! I have a lot of trouble with these names for things. I get this in my left shoulder every so often just as you described.
I had talked to my DUMB doctor about this many times and he kept telling me it was arthritis, but I knew different. At its worse I could not left my left arm at all. I finally got him to give me some hydrocodone and after taking one pill at bedtime and after the first night it was much better and after the second night I had no more probles for months. Now I take one pill as soon as I notice the muscle acting up (every couple of months or so) and it never gets real bad any more.
