Sensory neuropathies, What are they??

I just looked up the Wartrenberg's migratory sensory neuropathy that doc 72 had posted a question about. It seems there are several sensory neuropathies and I noticed that some of them are compared to the early symtoms of MS. I also noticed that some of them even have white matter lesions. Does anyone know what sensory neuropathy is and what is the difference in it and regular neuropathy? I read it but still do not fully understand the difference!

Neuropathy is all nerves, peripheral neuropathy excludes the spine and brain, sensory neuropathy is a peripheral neuropathy, but tends to concentrate on the surface nerves and their sensations - touch, warmth, pain etc.

WMSN was 1st recognised by Robert Wartenberg in 1958.  He thought it was the early signs of ms but on further analysis he found that it was different in presentation.  I've recently been diagnosed with the condition and am looking for as much information as I can find.  & Ricki0 that link was good thank you... it is now happily sat in my bookmarks.  I have just had MRI done on brain & full CNS so I will keep you updated of anything I find if you wish??? The MRI is to make sure there's nothing else going on & who knows there maybe knowing my luck.

Thank you for that source.  But the post that you responded to is from 18 months ago and that person is no longer active.

I read that part, but what I am really wondering is it an MS mimic, part of MS and does it look simular to MS on MRI?

Hmmm... without resorting to Google, sensory neuropathy is a disease (pathy) of the nerves that affects your senses.  This includes numbness, tingling, burning, etc.
