Shoot..Grrrrrr....Sad....

First off I just posted pictures of the moose in my pond. They are in an album named Moose under my profile.

Last night I went out for Chinese and had something strange going on.  Everything I ate seemed spicy, Pork Fried rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Fried Shrimp, Pork in a sauce I can't spell, egg roll, and the hot Chinese mustard. The only thing that should have been spicy was the egg roll since I dipped it in the mustard. Oh but I do love that mustard, the hotter the better! The only thing I can think of is that I had just started on a new nasal spray that evening.

But this is the shoot, grrrr, sad part.. When I checked my glucose this morning it was 168. Other times when I have eaten Chinese food with out the fried shrimp my glucose was OK in the morning and this makes the second time when I have had fried shrimp my glucose was way too high. I absolutely love shrimp! I have eaten over 2 pounds of shrimp in a single meal before. I just hope it is only that they were fried. I would hate it if I could not have shrimp at all. The next time Red Lobster restaurant has their all the shrimp you can eat deals I'll have to try it with no fried shrimp styles to check it out. I usually have at least 7 orders of their shrimp dishes.

I'll have to take your word for it lol i've now checked out your moose photos 3 different times of day, and i still can't work out exactly what type of animal it is, stupid vision......

hmmmm shrimp, personal favorite and as far as i'm aware a seafood itself is a good diabetic choice as it does not have any carbohydrate so it will not cause blood glucose to rise, but most fried foods can affect your blood sugar because fat slows down digestion and can cause delayed high glucose levels, theoretically shrimps ok but fry anything and it's not....

I'm not sure i'd just be blaming the fried shrimp because on top of the fried shrimp, some of your other dish choices are very high in sugar, carbs or fats eg sweet and sour pork has something like 63 grams of sugar, pork fried rice is around 35% fat, 51% carbs, pork egg roll and the pork in a sauce I can't spell is probably not so good either, as most Chinese sauces are high in sugars, fats and salt, so may be the entire meal choice combined was the cause and not just the fried shrimp.

I don't think you should be totally giving up your love of shrimp, just the fried types when your also eating a lot of other high sugar, carb and fat dishes too :D

Cheers....JJ
