Slightly OT-MRI on television

Every time I see someone get an MRI on a fictional show, they just slide the person into the tube.  No coils anywhere?  Would that even work?  They don't immobilize them, either.

And, if it's on "House", there are always two doctors running the procedure and simultaneously analyzing the findings.  Have any of us ever had even one doctor do our MRIs?  Would they even know how to do it?  Seems like it would be much better left to the techs.

Yeah, I'm watching way too much TV.  I'm getting a big kick out of "Royal Pains."  Hank's the Marcus Welby for the next generation.

I get a kick out of Royal Pains too.  ER used to drive me nuts too.  I worked in a busy ER and there were things you know would not happen!  Just have to watch  for the fun of it.  Karen

Actually when I got my last MRI at the VA I was able to see into the control area for the MRI lab while people ahead of me were getting MRIs done. In the room was a radiologist (I spoke with him prior to my MRI) as well as 2 techs. I could also see the images from the other patients as they were being done and the ridiologist checking them as they were done. I suspect he (radiologist) wasn't checking for the health problems but just makeing sure the images were good.
