Hi Carol,

I just read your post on some other topic today and wanted to let yet you know that I got my new legs.  I also wanted to tell you that when I first put them on and had my first walk, I felt as if I was Robocop, they felt funny and my whole body felt funny.

I have one question and hope that you can answer it.  How do you buy shoes?  You see I still work and we have to wear suits, skirts, tailored pants, and the worst of all is that I do not like to wear sneakers!!!!!!!  I do not know if you have read in some of my previous posts that I have written indicating that I am Ms. Imelda Marcos' niece because my mother, may her rest in peace, was her sister.  We have an obsession with shoes.  I do not wear high heals anymore, but there are shoes with very little heals or flats that are nice, but when I went to tried them, I was not able to do so.  The place where I purchased my braces told that the only thing that I would need to do was buy a wider size and that they would fit, which was not my experience.  Do you have to order them through a specific place?  If so, would it be too much to ask where do you order them from?

One other thing, you were right on the fact that you leg braces and cane would be your best companions for the rest of your life.  I never used my cane inside my house, now I do.  I do not feel safe walking in the house without my cane.  Thank you for your advise.

Enough about me, how are you.  I have missed you a lot in the past weeks.  I hope you are ok.  Please remember I am a message away.  Also remember:  we have MS, but MS does not have us!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great weekend!!!!!

Zulma

Hi Carol

Have not seen any of your positive postings, unless my crazy eyes are preventing from seeing them, but I hope that your are getting better.  I also hope that by now you would be talking baby steps with your "hotlegs and cane" and eventually would be running around like the roadrunner!!!!!!!

Remember that I am just a message away.  Thank your for all you have given me.  My prayers are always with you.

Take good care of yourself, and may The Lord be with you,

Zulma

I am so glad to hear from you, but I am sorry that you are feeling so sad.  I hope you feel better very soon.  I know that the lord has a reason for it, He does not mae mistakes.  Keep your faith as I know you truly belief that the Lord is behing every one.

Thank you very much for your advise, I will be looking in JC Penney for the one that you nmentioned.  It is funny because the only pair of sneakers that I own are scketchers, the Lord is always in misterious ways, even with us MSers.  I alwasy say that he chose us because were are his "special peole" and because of that nobody else could have MS, because not many people could go through our ordeal not even when it gets tough, he is always at our side.

Thank you again for taking the time to answer to answer my questions and for taking the time to do so.  I hope to see more posting written ny you.

Remember we have M, but MS does not have us!!!!!!!!

Thank you and God bless you and your family!!!!!!!

Hi Zulma,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I guess I just missed seeing your post.  I'm glad you got your new legs.  That's great.  The first shoes that I got was a pair of sketchers.  They where in the mens department and I had to get them a full size bigger and I guess as about as wide as you can get them.  My braces come all the way down the bottom of my feet, just to the bends in my toes.  Are yours like that?

Also on the dress shoes, I did buy 1 pair for church and I had to get them a couple of sizes bigger and also extra wide.  I got both pair of my shoes at a department store called Stage.  I don't know if you have one of those or not but they are like JC Penneys or Dillards.  I cant afford to special order shoes these where high enough for me.

If you have any more questions about it let me know.  By the way I'm afraid that I've had a set back.  I've been in a flare and it's not been a good one.  I've been back in the wheelchair now for a couple of weeks.  I cannot put any pressure on my feet.  The pain is indescribable.  This is exactly the same kind of flare I had last year.  It's been about 6 months or so ago.  I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about everything.  You know, the Lord only puts on us what we can handle and I know that I could handle even more than this.  So I guess I had better not do any complaining.  Right?

I know one thing and that's if I didn't have all of you guys to turn to and to have as my friends then I don't think I could be near as positive as I am.  So, I salute everyone on this forum.  I do love you all.

Zulma,  hang in there,  Your the only one who has a second thought about your braces.  You and I both know they are not the prettiest things in the world, but if because of them (and a cane) we can walk (I'll be walking again soon) then that's all that matters.  Walking is something that people take for granted.  But let me tell you that never ever take anything in life for granted because it can disappear in a flash.

I'll be praying,
Carol
