New to the forum

Hey everybody! I am new to this forum and have never done this forum thing before but I thought it might be able to answer some questions that I may have. Well I am 24 and I first found out I had MS almost 6 years ago, I have had a real hard time the last few years, 1st) I had back surgery for spinal stenosis, 2nd)found out I had MS,3rd) I had 10 different kidney surgeries and go figure I had to have it removed. Can anyone say depression is a given... but I had some good news last christmas and after 3 doctors said that I couldn't have children, there I was pregnant. I had my daughter in August 2007 and only had 1 attack while pregnant but it has been really rough since I delived, it has been attack after attack and I hate to always take the solumedrol (steroids). The biggest problem that I find I have is usually my legs, having the dead foot/leg syndrom and just having a hard time walking period and the times that my legs just give out on me. It scares me to death not knowing when that is going to happen. I don't want to be holding my daughter and fall on my face. But I think I have wrote enough for know but the 1st thing that I wanted to ask is if anyone has heard of the WALK AID product or even has it, and how does it work and would it be worth it for the $4500 , I know if it does work it wouldn't matter the cost but i wanted to check and hear some things about it????
Thank You

WELCOME to the MS Forum.  You have come to one of the greatest MS Forums on the Internet.

You have certainly been through more than most.  God bless you.  Thank God that precious beautiful baby is there to remind you how great life can be.

As T said, your flair-ups after delivery are very common.  The pregnancy hormone quiets down our immune system to allow the "forgein" body inside of us to grow, without our immune system destroying it.  After the delivery, these protective hormones subside and all h e l l break loose with MS.  So what you are describing sounds right on cue.

I agree with what T told you about the walking aids.  I would definitely investigate them.

WE are so thanful that you posted and so glad that you decided to join us.  We hope that you will post often and share your life with us.  There are so many soft shoulders on this Forum...as you will soon see.  Lean on us...When you are member here, you never walk alone...

Again, welcome,
Heather

Welcome! Glad that you joined our forum family. Congratulations on the baby, they truly are a magnificent gift. I know you mentioned walking aids and I would suggest getting one. You will feel safer with it. I have been looking at some and hoping my insurance would cover some of the costs. I am not holding my breath though.
Depression is hard to deal with and team it up with MS or any other chronic condition it becomes even harder to handle.  I hope that we can help you with that and anything else.  Without this forum I would of been in the depths of despair.
My name is Ada, I am not dx with MS, but it is suspected by my team of doctors. I am here for you anytime as is everyone here on this wonderful forum.

Lots of Hugs and Wishing You the Best,

Spastic Ada

WELCOME TO OUR CYBER FAMILY,THIS IS AN AWESOME GROUP HERE.

CONGRADULATIONS ON THE BABY,IT ONLY PROVES THAT THE DRS. AREN'T ALWAYS RIGHT.

I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MS AFTER I HAD MY FIRST LUMBAR SURGERY,IT JUST TRIGGERED THIS DEMON TO APPEAR AFTER IT WAS DORMANT.BUT I THINK BACK TO A TEENAGER AND REMEMBER TRIPPING OVER MY FEET,HAVEING COGNITIVE ISSUES IN SCHOOL AND SO FORTH.

FOR THE WALK AIDE,I DO HAVE A FEW FRIENDS THAT HAVE HAD GREAT SUCCESS WITH THEM.I HOLD HEARTEDLY CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR FEARS ABOUT THE THE LEGS GIVING OUT AND FALLING,ESPECIALLY CARRYING THAT BUNDLE OF JOY.

I WEAR LEG BRACES, ONE ON THE LEFT IS A  AFO,FOR DROP FOOT ,IT COMES RIGHT BELOW THE KNEE AND ON THE RIGHT LEG I WEAR A KAFO,A FEW LENGTH LEG BRACE THATS HINGED AT THE KNEE.ON BAD DAYS I CAN LOCK THE HINGES AND IT SUPPORTS ME AND THE LEG DOESN'T GIVE OUT.

TRUELLY LOOK INTO THE WALK AIDES,I'VE HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT THEM.

FOR A SWEET YOUNG LADY YOU SURE HAVE HAD YOUR SHARE OF MEDICAL DISORDERS.YOU ARE A VERY STRONG PERSON.

ITS NOT UNCOMMON AFTER CHILD BIRTH TO HAVE A NASTY RELAPSE,ACTUALLY THE CLEVELAND CLINIC IS DOING A STUDY ON HORMONES AND WHY WHEN WOMEN GET PREGNANT,SYMPTOMS SUBSIDE,BUT RELAPSE AFTER GIVING BIRTH.

EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH,ITS VERY UNDERSTANDABLE WHY DEPRESSION WOULD COME INTO PLAY,BUT IT ALSO A SYMPTOM OF MS.

STICK WITH US AND WE WILL TRY TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS AND HELP YOU THROUGH THIS TIME PERIOD.

HERE WE HAVE OUR DEN MOTHER(A RETIRED PEDIATRICIAN) WHO HAS MS,HER KNOWLEDGE ON MS AND DISORDERS IS OVERWHELMING,BY THE WAY HER NAME IS QUIX,THEN THERES HEATHER WHOM ALSO IS A WEALTH OF INFORMATION.

ONCE AGAIN WELCOME
