Testing, testing..........

Hello all,
So I went to the MS Spec's office yesterday & did my 3 tests. BAER, VER, & the MRI w/wo contrast. I was exhausted from the first 2 tests, then went directly to MRI. The radiologist was horrible. She reviewed my previous treatment notes, & stated to me that I've been tested for MS from several neuro's before & nothing is showing up. ( I really felt as if she was trying very hard to "rule out" MS even before she did the MRI). Anyway she slammed that thing down in front of my face & started the test. I was very upset,.so of course, I had to stop her in the middle of the test because I had a slight panic attack. Then she came out & stated that she'd probably have to do the whole test over again because she stopped, (but she tried hard to make me re-schedule for another day). I told her that I would be fine,--and I got through the rest of the test, even with contrast. They gave me my pics with no dx as yet, however on two of them it states that she had to use a localizer,(because of the panic attack)  --and the pics are marked that way. My Q is, does this change the outcome of those 2 pictures, does the Dr. disregard them, what exactly does this mean?

Thanks,

First of all, a medical professional does not have the right to be abusive to a patient.  At the least she was dismissive and condescending towards you.  SHe created an atmosphere of tension and fear----so it's not surprising that you had a panic attack.  I would call my neurologist to report what happened, you can also report this to the hospital possibly through patient relations.

I think the localizer is the box or hood your head goes into.  It helps the doctor know what structures he/she is looking at.

I'm sorry you had to go through this.  All these tests on one day is terribly taxing.

Hugs,   Red

Thanks Sadie, & Red,
I appreciate you. You know, I haven't had a panic attack in over 8 months, until yesterday. And even though I've never had it done, I think I might have enjoyed an LP instead. LOL---this was definitely a horrible experience, & yes, I hate being pre-diagnosed by someone who apparently dislikes their job. I think I will report this, thanks for the "heads up".  I'll find out soon enough what the "localizers" mean, & how/if, it affects,-if anything.

I'm hanging!!

Freddie,
Don't you hate it when they're all ready to have an opinion before they've even looked at you?

I can't help you, except I've always wondered what "localizers" are on MRIs in the first place, so I'm curious to see what others say.

Hang in there!
Sadie
