The personal connection here....

I've said this before, but it is well worth repeating...

If you have the opportunity to meet up in person with any of the fine folks here, don't pass up the chance.

Last night I had cheesecake and coffee with Laura (dagmum) and I could have talked with her for hours.  Beyond discussing MS, it was a very pleasant conversation to learn more about her, life in Italy, and our common connections.  She lived in the community where I live, and was there to visit her parents.

Thanks, Laura, for ending/starting my week in such a great way..... and I just finished those last few bites of white chocolate caramel macademia nut cheesecake.  It would have only been better if you were sitting across the table conversing with me.

For everyone else,  please don't ever turn down the chance to meet up with others- it is always good to spend time with those who understand what we go through.

hugs,
Laura

Just saw this, Laura... I so enjoyed meeting you!! There really is something special about being able to sit down and have a real chat face to face (with cheesecake!!) and I'm so pleased we got to do that.

Being so newly diagnosed, your sound advice and positive attitude were just what I needed to feel way better about things.  So thankful for that!  Not to mention the fun of chatting with you about other stuff as well.  I hope we'll get the chance to do that again!  :)

Many hugs and thanks,
Laura

So true! I have made friends from across the US and in other countries through this forum, people of varying ages and backgrounds whom I never would have connected with otherwise. And I've actually met and spent time with quite a few too. I'm so glad.

This is an unexpected dividend of belonging to MedHelp's MS forum. I joined for good information ,and stayed for support for myself and the opportunity to support others. Friendships and a good dose of much-needed humor came my way too. What's not to like?

COBOB offered to help me and my partner when we were going up to a doctor's appt I had in Denver from Colorado Springs, since he has a gigantic truck and the weather was bad.

Thankfully, we didn't need his help since we also have a 4x4, but it would have been nice to meet him in person.....

so true, I have met one of my forum friends, talk to another on the phone, and plan on meeting a couple more, chat with you and you are so close but oh so far away, and yes, it really enriches your life to meet someone from here.

I know some are rather hesitant, but after many conversations, you get a sense of whether or not its ok.

I have no regrets for the wonderful people I have met here and a chance to put a face with the friend.
