To Lemtrada or not Lemtrada

I am considering whether or not to use the medication Lemtrada. This a statement in the conclusion section of an MRI scan report. Does this indicate to you if I am a candidate for the medication. I have had MS for 28 years, I've tried most of the DMD'S to no avail. I'm out of options.

Thank you,

"There are scattered and confluent FLAIR hyperintense foci in the periventricular white matter, most evident around the atria of the lateral ventricles. Lesions are also present within the pons and right cerebellum. No enhancing lesions are present".

Do your research on it. I had my first Lem infusion yesterday and am cautiously optimistic in my future with it. Ive been thru 3 other DMD's with no difference. There will be people that bash it due to the potential serious side effects, but Genzyme requires you to do monthy blood tests for 48 months after your last infusion, and every serious side effect can be caught and effectively treated. Also, keep in mind, that doing Lem will not exclude from doing any other treatment should something more promising come to fruition in the future, like HSCT or Ocrelizumab, With that said, it is the right choice for me at this time. The potential to stop this disease in its tracks vs knowing how Ive progressed so far and will likely continue to do so, made the decision easy for me. Do your research, good and bad, and make the decision that is right for you, and definitely take the ones that bash it with a grain of uneducated salt.

It is all benefit/risk. Lemtrada would not be a first line treatment. If you have been through the rest it is worth it. There is also Rituxan it is lesser known.
