Help with interpreting MRI

What is radiologist saying about left periatrial focus?

IMPRESSION:
1. Stable scattered T2/FLAIR hyperintensities within the hemispheric white matter, the
majority of which are nonspecific in morphology and distribution. Differential
considerations include age-advanced microvascular ischemic disease if the patient has
known vascular risk factors, prior infectious/inflammatory etiologies or vasculitis.
Primary demyelination remains a less likely differential consideration with a single
questionable left periatrial focus which demonstrates a
somewhat linear configuration and perivenular orientation . No enhancement associated with any of these foci to
implicate active inflammation.
2. Stable mild asymmetric thickened linear enhancement of the right tentorium is
nonspecific but may reflect reactive change from prior trauma or inflammation. Small en
plaque meningioma is a less likely consideration.

Radiology reports are written by radiologists. Radiologists are not diagnosticians. They are paid to identify abnormalities and provide some possible causes for their observations.

In your case it seems the radiologist thinks a cause for the findings is ischemia. Ischemia is blood flow, not nerve, related. The report also indicated that demyelination was also a possibility. It is now the job of you neuro to sort out the diagnosis.

Hi, to me it seems like they are saying that there might be a slight change that one spot is suspicious. But I don´t really know. It does often seem like they try to tone everything down in these reports so the patient does not jump in conclusion. So that is why we need to speak straight to the neuro and get his opinion. I hope you have a good one :)

My best wishes,
