Typical Time Lapse Between Symptoms?

Hi All,

Just wondering what is a 'typical' time frame for onset of symptoms to the next flare up?  I went through something around 10 years ago (that was very MS like - in a mild form) and going through something similar now (once again, very mild form).  Just wondering if 10 years would be more of an unusual time lapse or quite common.  My symptoms seem to coincide with lots of anxiety and internet researching (which seems to fuel everything).  But not sure if it is MS is causing anxiety or other way round.

Thank you.

Have you had an MRI?

There are a lot of people whose disease can follow the course that you are describing.  It is not the norm, but it is well-described.  "Most", but not all, continue to have that very same course.

The way you describe the symptoms as coinciding with symptom surfing and episodes of anxiety my feeling is that this is more likely.  Anxiety can bring up lots of milder symptoms that can seem MS-like.  But, I agree with T-Lynn.  If MS is on your mind, now after 10 years, talk to them about it.

Good luck,  Quix, MD

I DON'T THINK THERE IS A TYPICAL TIME FOR RELAPSES AS MS IS AN INDIVIDUAL DISEASE.

I WAS ORIGINALLY DIAGNOSED IN 1998 AND HADN'T HAD A RELAPSE UNTIL THE END OF 2004.SO THAT WAS 6 YEARS.

IF YOU BELEIVE THIS COULD BE MS RELATED,SEE YOUR GP AND DISCUSS THAT WITH HIM.

MS CAN CAUSE ANXIETY,BUT ANXIETY CAN CAUSE ITS OWN HOST OF SYMPTOMS.

DON'T KNOW IF ANY OF THIS MAKES SENSE?
