Tumeric and inflammation

I tend to do this thinking-out-aloud thing so pls forgive me if you dont like any of my posts.

Much has been speculated about the use of tumeric (in tablet form or in food) in helping calm inflammation in the body.

What I wonder is that, since there's no direct evidence that it helps in MS patients, but since its also a totally natural ingredient, there can't be any harm in taking it anyway.

Just a thought. You have any on this?

Sorry about that, I guess I had a proof reading problem that day. What I meant to say was that I don't know much about tumeric or ms but I have severe inflammation from herniated disc arthritis ect and I take Black cherry extract for it. It works better than the prescriptions I was on. I take the NOW brand 750 mg capsules 2 per day more on days I am going to be active. In a pinch I will even drink cherry juice but it is not as concentrated as the capsules so they work better for me. They are also cheaper online by about half. Essdipity is right though not everything labeled healthy or natural is safe or works 100% for everyone. I will try just about anything that is natural ect but I don't put 100% faith in it. What works for one person may not work for another. Best of luck to you and sorry about the mess up on my other post.

I know nothing for or against tumeric, but I do have a comment on this.

Please don't assume that 'totally natural' means healthful. So many people do. In the case of tumeric, which has been used in cooking for centuries, no doubt this is true.

But so many other things are natural, but poisonous, like snake venom, or hemlock. Other natural things are just plain not good for you.

Excuse my mini-rant on this, please, but it's one of my hot buttons. Always check out any unknown additive to find out what it really is.

I don't know about tumeric or much about Black cherry  extract for inflammation. It works better than anything I have taken before. It may also work for you.  Best wishes.

I use Tumeric in cooking as part of a Glutathion boosting diet. Not sure if it will work. I saw something on Dr. OZ. I found some studies the NIH did on Glutathion and MS and also in Great Britain. The study was promising but too small. I figure it can't hurt me. I am losing weight, looking great, and all my blood levels, blood pressure, etc. is good.

Alas I still have my MS Symptoms. I do not know how they would measure inflammation in me. Possibly another ANA mine was high two years ago.

I am not using supplements just food and spices such as tumeric, cardamon, and cinnamon.

I figure it can't hurt. My Doctor asked why I looked so good.
