NERVE PAIN WHEN WAKING UP??

So, this is a wierd sypmptom that has been happening lately. If I wake up at all during the middle of the night, I will end up having to take a 100mg of the gabapentin whcih takes away thep pain, but leaves me so tired and drugged, that I can' function, shower, anythingh for hours.;

This happens when my husband is getting ready for work and says goodbye and that wakes me and caused the nerve pain to start. Its usually a horrible aching pain that occurs in right upper chest area/armpit too...my eyes get jumpy and it feels like short circuits going off in my brain.

Just wondering if anyone else has this trouble and if so, how do they deal with it. I have to take the gabapentin and then it makes me loopy. Wondering what other people do with the pain stuff.

Take Care Everyone!!!

I agree with Sarah,  The Gaba needs to be taken at regular intervals each day.  Are you taking it as a prn?  I also think you need to call your neuro and/or PCP.

I hope you feel better soon

I am wondering if you are taking anything else as 100mg of Gabapentin is such a tiny dose that I am surprised that if makes you so drowsy. I would suggest that you talk to your neuro about your symptoms as most people take a regular dose of Gabapentin at the same time each day so that it gets into your bloodstream and keeps your symptoms under control.  I do not think that it is designed to be taken just now and then.

I am sure that others will be able to add more insight.

with best wishes
