What does "bump" mean

I think we have a new word for 'bump'!

ANY new post under any discussion will bounce (or bump) that whole discussion to the top of the first page.  Even if I went to a old discussion from last fall; if I post a response to it, it will move to the top of the first page here.  

And we just "use" the word "bump."  We could say "Malgorfibble" and it would still move to the top.

You;ll see it quickly enough.  I'm always confused on new forums, too.

Not just for new posts. It moves posts that have gone down toward the bottom of the page or to the next page back to the top where more people can see it and reply. It helps get more replies. Sometimes we bump up an old post on a good topic so that people who are new to our forum (welcome, by the way!) can see the info too.

Did that help at all or just confuse you?

Oh, so I get it now, you put bump in there to tag the post and becuase it's a new post for that individual, it will be first in their personal posts (when viewing their posts in their profile).

Hey Sweetie, bumping you just add a reply to a post and it takes it to the top.  We just usually put "bump" in there so others can see what we are doing.
