What's the deal with my leg?

by ncowleyc, Sep 18, 2007 11:56AM
Hi. Last night was sitting browsing the forum (my new addiction) and my leg started to get the creepy crawlies. From below my knee, where most of my numbness lies, my leg felt weird. Shifted around thinking maybe falling asleep. My whole foot and leg felt heavy, weak, like when you have just finished working out. Got up to move around went outside. It's gettng cold here, finally, and could feel the cold patio with right foot but left was numb. Since then have been goose stepping with my left leg. It's like I'm picking up my leg more than it needs to be and plopping it down. Can you feel your leg going to sleep when it's already numb? Maybe I'm focusing too much on how I'm walking causing me too lift my leg up? What do you think.

My legs do the same things. Are you diagnosed yet? Haven't been on forum for awhile. I am numb from waist down for 2 months now. Since on Copaxone, I've noticed I'm getting feeling back some. Couldn't feel feet when walked am getting feeling back slowly. If yyou are on meds, it's the meds working, or if not could be signs of new symptoms. Not much help sorry.  Karina

Assuming you're MS, then what you describe is fairly typical of MS when affecting the leg(s).  MS can cause you to loose strength, sensation and control to varying degrees, which is fairly normal as MS goes.  It also will vary from hour to hour, day to day, week to week, sometimes getting much better and much worse.  Heck everytime I stand up it feels a bit different than the time before.

It verty well could be a  new flair. Are you seing a neuro who has experienced knowledge with MS? If not I would suggest it. Would give you peace of mint to have answers. I had to wait over a month before I was officially diagnosed. I know how frustrating waiting for answers are. Hang in there. We all are here for ya. Karina

my 1st flairup was numbness of the right leg from hip to toes and then it started on the left leg ball of foot and toes

I rec'd a 3 day steriod infusion and within a couple of weeks full feeling back.  I am currently taking avonex once a week (shot)

definitely want to talk to your neurologist about it

We don't have a local neuro. but we have Quix who is a doctor and is better than any neuro I ever had.  I hope she can give you some insight on what you are going through.

I'll be praying,
Carol

This has happend again while I was walking. I don't think it has to do with my leg going to sleep now. It was hard to walk and I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance. Sat down for a while. It got better. Worried I might lose the loss of that leg. The other leg is starting too. Feel like I'm stepping into a hole. That's how the other one started. I am using my hip on the left side to get my leg started. I don't currently have a neuro but this is getting ridiculous. I am going to call a neuro to schedule an appt. No dx's because lack of insurance. Know of any good neuro's in Colorado?

I can relate,my legs do the same thing.

My leg braces now control that,be careful of how much strain you put on your hip.

You really need a neuro to evaluate you.
